NEW YORK – A panel of Democratic Party legal heavyweights speculated Jamie Gorelick, former deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration, could be appointed attorney general if Barack Obama were elected president.

In a panel chaired by Elena Kagan, dean and professor of law at Harvard Law School, Gorelick charged on the opening plenary panel of the American Constitution's Society two-day meeting in Washington that the Bush administration had politicized the operation of the Justice Department.

Gorelick said that if she were appointed attorney general in an Obama administration, her first job would be to "fix" the Department of Justice.

"The Justice Department only functions well if the career lawyers have a voice and are actively consulted," Gorelick told the 700 attendees. "In the old order, if the White House wanted to know if something was lawful, it would call the Justice Department, and there would be a lot of discussion within the Justice Department at the attorney general's office. The legal opinion would be the product of the Justice Department's work."

Later, Gorelick acknowledged the attorney general had to be close ideologically to the president in order to represent the administration's legal positions both to the public and through the office of solicitor general.

Gorelick was appointed by then-Senate Democratic Party minority leader Tom Daschle to serve on the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, commonly known as the 9/11 commission.

She definitely has that liberal "look" that is getting easier to spot and recognize.

I'll bet she had to enlist a cousin to take her to the prom.

Just that name Gore lick brings all kinds of disgusting images to mind.

Obama may have other reasons for doing this. Check this out....

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, The

Note the Cohen's affiliation with Perseus LLC, and Gorelick is on this board.

"Janet Renos's Number Two" sounds like something the South Florida sewer systems have had to deal with.

The author of the policy that prohibited information exchanges between the FBI and the agencies monitoring terrorist activity, thus preventing the government from connecting the 9/11 dots before the attack, IRRC.

Well, let’s be practical. An Obamanation administration would need alot of crooks and anti-Americans to carry out its blatantly obvious agenda. Gorelick would be perfect to cultivate corruption and deception.

And then the pardon for convicted terrorists would go through anyway.

Let's see - there's an equation to this.

Chicago Pol = criminal; Jamie Gorelick = criminal; ergo, if Obamasama is a Chicago Pol, then Jamie Gorelick is his choice.

Gosh that was easy.

It's pretty easy to link Jamie Gorelick to Barbara Hatch Rosenberg AND that old gal, Lynne Stewart who was the Blind Sheik's lawyer.

You can take it from there right into the netherworld of the YPSL and Weather Underground to track down the Anthrax Attack gang.

“Obama may have other reasons for doing this.”

If I were going to guess a reason Obama would pick Gorelick for AG, I would say it because he made a deal with Hillary.

You back down, and I’ll make sure no one can come after you for your crimes.

Much of the time Janet Reno was Jamie Gorelick’s sock puppet. Gorelick did the real planning. She is a thoroughly evil woman.

The guy's a socialist. They don't breed 'em for brains.

A black, muslim socialist... the closest thing to a full-blown commie. As bad a beating were gonna' get from McCain... the end of the Republic is what awaits us if this absurdity of a candidate takes the Oval Office.

I'll never forget how Republicans allowed this woman, who was solely responsible for the intelligence failures that led to 9-11, on a commission investigating her own failure.

Unbelievable!

Another reason why we have to vote for McCain and down ballot conservatives to serve as a backbone for him.
The damage McCain can do might be contained and will be repairable if we still have a country. The damage barack mcgovern will do could very well kill America. Countries do die. They do grind to a halt and fall off their tracks, look at france and england.
Don’t be fooled. Every conservative who “sent” a message in 2006 has given us plastic face reid and put us in this position. And please, please let’s have no “oh it was the evil Republicans that MADE me stay home or vote rat. I had NO other way to send my message”, because THAT is pure bull shiite. There was NO election last summer and the message we sent about illegal aliens invading our country was heard loud and clear.
Blaming the politicians is like being surprised to find out your 16 year kid threw a keg party when you went away for a week. We are the adults and the political class are just a necessary evil. Voting every two years. Is not nearly enough. Those who skipped the primaries also helped the rats give us McCain. If everyone who calls himself a conservative got up off his ash and voted for Fred or Mitt we wouldn’t be stuck with McCain. Now staying home or voting for barr or some other ash hole is out of the question.

(what she meant)

When the Clintons were in power, the White House would call the Justice Department. They would then go to Janet Reno, and she would tell them what their response should be.

And that is the same power I wish to wield, should I get the job.

“A panel of Democratic Party legal heavyweights speculated ...”

"(me and some boys at the newsdesk speculated....)"

Exactamundo! Axelrod & Co. back-channeling tons of garbage to provoke overreaction; hopefully immunize Barry; and solidify their totally broken base.

Got news for you, David, it ain't working, and it ain't gonna work. And here's a prime example:

Joe Andrews (who is a nothingburger personified), was pulling up to the Rules Committee meeting two weeks ago in DC, when Hillary protestors shouting "Traitor!" set upon his van and kicked dings into the panels!
