Environmentalists said the new regulations give oil companies a blank check to harass the polar bear. Exactly how does an oil company harass a polar bear? Do they call it names and follow it around?

Does kissing them annoy them?
Because, if so, environmentalists have been annoying them for years and it hasn't made the news or taken a presidential decree.

And wind turbine operators have permission to shred birds but NOT to annoy Ted Kennedy by affecting scenery while he is sailing.

"Less than a month after declaring polar bears a threatened species because of global warming, the Bush administration is giving oil companies permission to annoy and potentially harm them in the pursuit of oil and natural gas." The AP is so honest and objective these days.

Like oil companies want to go out of their way to harrass polar bears? Sometimes I wonder how liberals feed themselves if they’re that stupid. Oh, I forgot, that’s the role of the Federal government.

This is so ridiculous. Off shore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico has proven to be an ecological boom for the local fishies because the rigs provide a man-made reef for them. Drillers on shore in Louisiana make friends with the alligators - they even have brooms to scratch the gators’ back with. And the wildlife in Alaska love the pipeline from Prudhoe Bay; it’s warm and cuddly. Perhaps we’re encouraging unnatural growth, but the animals aren’t annoyed, they love it.
