do you know where in NW Japan? My daughter lived for 2 years in Tajima in Fukushima Prefecture, and has several friends who are still there.

They have been testing this system in California... basically because the sensors can alert a network faster than the waves move through the earth.... I am glad to see it work in Japan......In CA it will probably never work, due to different entities involved.

Felt it here, about 30 mi SW of Tokyo. Didn’t pay it much mind - figured it was one of the usual 5.0 +/- just off the coast. Yikes.
