My memory is telling me that a P.E.(pulmonary embolus) generally gives chest pain.

From my experience it certainly does, and can be mistaken for a heart attack.

Very similar pain (and in the same area if it is the left lung affected as in my case), quite acute.

Also very hard to diagnose.

Pulmonary embolism is the third most common cause of death in the US. Usually discovered during an autopsy.

RIP Tim Russert

Sorry about the misunderstanding of your comment. But in general I think these threads tend to be pretty evenhanded with plenty of comments about what people did not like about whoever.

“He also wrote a book about his father, titled “Big Russ and Me.” Last week, he moved Big Russ to a nursing facility.”

I saw Tim speak once at Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, which is now called de Sales University. He talked about escaping poverty by being married before you had children. He also was involved in the Big Brother program...

Yes, this is why we have to be ready at all times to go on to the next step.

“He died on Bush's Watch” therefore its all the fault of GW Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Libby, Rove and all the “neocon” Republicans/Conservatives - of course.... Nobama shall comfort all in the bosom of his greatness, will dry all tears and there will be no more pain, death or sadness evermore - except for those who disagree.

Despite Russert’s relative youth, upon reflection this is not a bad way to go. Struck down suddenly in your prime and at your post, doing the work you love while people still appreciate the way you do it. No lingering agony in a hospital room with tubes going in and out, no prolonged ordeal of radiotherapy or chemotherapy, no burden on the loved ones to decide when and if to pull the plug. Just short, sharp, over and out. It beats a lot of the alternatives.

Thanks, boats. They moved her from the hospital to the rehab center already, four days earlier than they had expected to. God is with her.

Thanks, Tom. I know what you mean, I’m only 37 and this seems like a different country than the one I was brought up in.

My aunt is now at the rehab center...she moved there four days earlier than expected, so God is already answering our prayers for healing.

There is the question, I suppose, of an embolysm (sp?) - blood clots that travel and become fatal if they reach the heart. People often develop them in their legs after sitting for hours on long flights, such as the one Russert had taken returning from Italy.

Yeah how long before Olberwhackomann comes up with some conspiracy theory and blames this on Bush, Cheney, Rove, big oil and the health care industry?

They have completed the autopsy on Tim Russert:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25145431

Russert’s physician, Michael Newman, said cholesterol plaque ruptured in an artery, causing sudden coronary thrombosis.

Russert had earlier been diagnosed with asymptomatic coronary artery disease, but it was well-controlled with medication and exercise, and he had performed well on a stress test in late April, Newman said. An autopsy revealed that he also had an enlarged heart, Newman said.

Thanks, Sam. They’ve already moved her out of the hospital to the rehab center, which they did four days ahead of schedule. God is already answering our prayers for healing.

“... Basically, the Clintons always knew that Russert would be a problem for them.”

Thanks for all the great information. I knew there was a reason why I liked Russert. I had no idea though about all that info you posted. It’s a sad day when a person like that dies before his time.

Yeah, it’s sad that a father and husband passed away so suddenly like this. Condolences to his family and friends.

It’s times like this we leave our politics out of it...BUT(MONKEY)...

Did Russert EVER? stand up and decry the media lies that came directly from his co-workers and his company? Did he ever get on his show and talk about Olberdork and his spittle foam tirades against President Bush?

Just wondering because there are so many media comments and posts about him being so ‘fair’ and moderate etc...but did he ever stand up and make a stand against the Lieberal Media?

I do hope his family remembers him as a wonderful father and husband, these next days will be tough.

G
