I used LK as an example to demonstrate how one who is not officially a "reporter" can still be biased.

Russert's insipid "tough questions" about the WOT didn't help to get the truth out about what was happening in Iraq. Thus, along with other MSM people he didn't earn my respect.

On another thread a FReeper remarked that with the wall-to-wall coverage on all the networks & cable - one would think the President had died.

That’s the state of the media today - incestuous left wing siblings. They have taken the unexpected death of a young man, one of their own - as an opportunity to anoint him: the High Priest of Principled Political Pressers. They have no knowlege of American History and even less about their own industry i.e.

Larry Spivak was the founder/originator of Meet the Press. It seems he was the trailblazer and Tim Russert followed his example.

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E03EFD7173DF933A25750C0A962958260

Known for his terrier-like tenacity as an interviewer and what seemed to be a muted but waspish personality, Mr. Spivak always said he saw himself as nothing more than a devil’s advocate.

His style and that of the journalists who regularly appeared on his program stand in sharp contrast to a later generation of television pundits who sometimes used their broadcasting time to express their own opinions.

Mr. Spivak’s directness in asking questions may have paved the way for the later approach, but he was always in control of himself, much as a prosecuting attorney might be. Thus, the guests on his program were most respectful of the questions he asked.

In 1960, for example, when John F. Kennedy, then a Massachusetts Senator seeking the Democratic Presidential nomination, appeared on “Meet the Press,” he said, “I suppose, Mr. Spivak, that you have a long list of challenging questions for me.”

Mr. Spivak replied, “Knowing my high regard for you, Senator, I don’t think you’d want me to pull my punches.”

“No,” Kennedy responded, “but I wouldn’t mind if you lowered your regard a bit.”

RIP Mr.Spivak and Mr. Russert.

Sean Hannity just mentioned something...really cryptic. Didn’t say exactly what the story was.”

The facts of your post are really astounding.

You took the words right out of my mouth. He was one of the very few in the media that I could stand to watch and that I felt had any ethical standards left. Sad to see it happen.

I heard something about that..Russert might have leaned lib but Olberman isn't worthy of being in the same room with him.

My condolences to Russert’s family. Very sad.

What a sad, pathetic hatefilled life you lead if you are unable to find compassion for another human being.

No true conservative would ever express hatred of another the way you have throughout this thread. That kind of behavior is the reserve of our emotionally driven Liberal opponents..

Political adversary, yes. Enemy, no way. Tim was a truly patriotic American. He love his country at least as much as you, and he served, just as you did, in his own way.

I thank you for your service and I pray for your soul.

Hatred only injures the hater, never the target of hatred.

Enjoy your small, sad, life. I hope you never receive the kind of hatred you are sending out against Tim Russert, it is the reaction of a small minded person.

Wow!

How sad. Even though I rarely agreed with his political bent, he did seem to be a stand-up sort of guy.

And he was a pretty decent political analyst. The world is poorer for this!

Condolences to his family.

He begs for it.

Glad you enjoyed it. Fox just played Neil Cavuto's interview with Tim where he tells that story.

Very tragic indeed. Russert even though a lib was not in the same mode as the rest of the Obuma ass-wipe commy media. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

NBC will now promote major Obuma suck up David fagot Gregory to his chair. This is very tragic news ! Maybe this is Bush’s fault ? Keith ? ??

Re-read your post and then look in the mirror.

Questions of timing and propriety aside, RA loves America & hates those he sees as those trying to destroy her.

Personally I will never NEVER fault anyone for that.

I had a lot of respect for Tim Russert and journalism would be far more respected if more of them did work up to his standards. A genuinely good guy, you will be missed.

RIP
