Daily Kos posts copy of Obama's birth certification
Hot Air ^ | 6/12/2008 | Allahpundit

No word of how he got it-Team Barry isn't actually leaking to dKos, is it?-and naturally he misunderstands Jim Geraghty's point about Obama's place of birth, which would have been relevant not with respect to his "Americanness" but whether he was constitutionally qualified to run as a natural-born citizen. But here it is.

Update: Not that it matters for purposes of addressing Geraghty's concerns, but Flip notes that the posted document is a certification of birth, which is slightly different from a birth certificate.

"Well there goes one more crack pot theory down the drain."

Not quite.

My post in 181 and 188 are photoshopped versions of this piece, I've inserted the middle name 'Mohammed,' changed the race of both parents and put his birth in Kenya.

you'll notice that the inserted text, done in photoshop, match the original.

If this isn't evidence to suggest this is a fake, I'm not sure what will be enough.

I could create an entire document like this with any information I want, if I wanted.

Certification of live birth is not the same as the official birth certificate issued by the Bureau of Vital Statistics.

This doesn’t change the fact that the Tin Foil brigade is wasting their time on this. The only thing dumber that I have seen posted on this site are the claims by Michelle Malkin that Rachel Ray and Dunkin Donuts were shilling for the Palestineans.

I ordered a copy of mine, two different times, several years apart, no baby footprints on either...

All that's going on is the "time dilation effect" we sometimes see mentioned here.

Recall that as recently as the 1970s government offices still worked with "punch cards"!!!!!!

Up until about 1982, GUI was still an acronymn, not a feature on a word processing system. And now, alas, people have forgotten how important it was to know about it back then.

My oldest Internet Posts are recorded some darned place with dates as recent as 1995, and one of my brother-in-laws actually worked with the ORIGINAL ARPA, and thinks he may be counted as among the first 100 users - and that's pretty doggone recent (but still classified as far as his use so I don't know it, but can guess).

Obama was born in 1961 and as far as documents and records are concerned, that period of time was purely "third world", even in America. Records were readily "fixed" with pen and ink and an initial.

BTW, it was as late as 1973 that I saw my first pocket calculator. Thing cost $380 and was being issued in the US government only to Division Managers and above.

In your opinion, are the photoshopped versions I posted at 181 and 188 enough evidence to suggest that the entire document was likely created in photoshop? (at least the text - the seal looks like it is original to the document, you’ll notice it’s much less clear then the text, like it was scanned)

I ordered a copy of mine, two different times, several years apart online. It took a matter of minutes and I guarantee you, I could have been anyone saying I was me.

Yes, "microfiche", another nearly forgotten technology that was so terribly important "way back when".

There's another one ~ DOT MATRIX PRINTING.

Again, showing my age (but not my profession) it was common to use the term “African race” in title deeds in 1961.

I'm next, pick me!

Obama has this problem: he finally 'accomodated' a big chunk of the blogs and forums who aren't sure if he's qualified to run for President by fronting an extremely questionable document.

He posted this obviously photoshopped Certificate of Birth on his own website.

He apparently wants this to continue.

Then go out and prove to the world that he Daily Kos document is fake.

Until, then it is simply speculation, crack pot speculation.

It’s not a birth certificate, it’s certification of live birth. I used to type them up at the hospital for 17 years. There’s a difference.

Obviously, the certification of live birth has no stamp seal or signature or anything apparently. No hospital. No physician name. There is really no name or authority on it that certifies anything. BTW, when you typed them up, would you type up ones from 40 years ago, or just current ones?

It was beautifully done fake, looks just like the ‘original.’ Kudos to you.

Did you actually look at the images I posted?!

These are actual photoshops - I've inserted text into the original using photoshop - and they match!

Good grief.

Certification of live birth isn't good enough to get a drivers license in La, but it's good enough to elect a president.

We're skrewed.

:^)

If I can do it - anyone can do it, including the whomever posted this to Kos.

I am not doubting that the document cannot be photoshopped but simply that you have yet to prove that the document provided by Obama and DK are falsified.

Not a Buckhead moment.

Last year I had to pull a 50 year old birth certificate in Jefferson Parish and was given a modern copy, printed with a laser printer.
