Daily Kos posts copy of Obama's birth certification
Hot Air ^ | 6/12/2008 | Allahpundit

No word of how he got it-Team Barry isn't actually leaking to dKos, is it?-and naturally he misunderstands Jim Geraghty's point about Obama's place of birth, which would have been relevant not with respect to his "Americanness" but whether he was constitutionally qualified to run as a natural-born citizen. But here it is.

Update: Not that it matters for purposes of addressing Geraghty's concerns, but Flip notes that the posted document is a certification of birth, which is slightly different from a birth certificate.

This is a copy which I've photoshopped for comparison:

I was wondering the same thing. If he was born in a hospital like they say he was; the birth certicate would be a birth certicate showing even the signature of the attening physcian and the family address; etc.

It would also most likely have a seal.

If he was born in a hospital, not a home birth, his birth certificate would reflect that.

His certificate of birth he provided ud confirms what we all know: he's alive. No question there.

Now, if Obama wanted to make hay of, say, his being listed on his hospital birth certificate as being black (and his mom is NOT), he'd release it.

But he doesn't. He speaks to huge rallies in every city of America who couldn't care if he's striped and purple polka-dotted.

So we can rule out his angst at being labeled white.

So where is his angst, that he won't won't release the original?

Which raises the inevitable suspicion that some of them don't just look like idiots, but, in fact, are actual idiots.

Bingo!!!

Probably he doesn't have the original. I certainly don't have my original. Do you have yours?

You know, if your name is changed in certain legal proceedings, like an adoption, you can get a birth certificate reflecting the new name.

I know this because my birth certificate has a name I didn’t have until I was 9.

The hospital he was born in does. Your baby feetprints aren’t recorded just for cuteness’ sake.

The term "African" was quite ordinarily included in title transfers and deeds back in 1961 - usually in the expression: "Provided the described property is not sold to a member of the African or Hebrew race".

That means "black" or "Jew" for you young guys.

It's become less common these days as folks have had their titles, covenants, deeds of conveyance, etc. adjusted to meet modern standards. After all, the prohibition of future sale to others on the basis of ethnicity is AGAINST THE LAW and would not be enforcible in court.

Justice Rehnquist got into a bit of trouble with the fact he'd left the deed to his house alone (to avoid legal fees I suppose) and had not had the offending phrase eliminated.

My birth certificate copy issued by Indiana states clearly that it's not valid if not "computer signed". My kids' birth certificate copies from DC are similar, and without embossing.

BTW, there's stuff going on in those machine generated copies you don't know about ~ but there are experts who do.

A "direct and tangible interest" might well be "he wants to buy a car from me ~ a private sale".

It's just a B.S. statement designed over the years by a committee of bureaucrats to delay issuance so they can eat lunch, screw around, or play with your head.

“African” (as I posted elsewhere) was commonly used in title deed restictions and covenants.

It’s not a birth certificate, it’s certification of live birth. I used to type them up at the hospital for 17 years. There’s a difference.

You do not appear to have followed all of the links at hot air explaining why this is a birth certification and not a birth certificate. Check out the state of Hawaii's page on which there is a distinction listed. Quote: "In order to process your application, DHHL utilizes information that is found only on the original Certificate of Live Birth, which is either black or green. This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth (a computer-generated printout). Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL."

No, it needs to be completely investigated. If it turns out to be nothing; that is one thing. But it if turns out that Barack Obama is attempting to hide information which, if known, would disqualify him for Presidential eligibility per the Constitution, then you’ll be glad it was pursued.

As to the document posted by Kos, you might be interested to know that downloading their file and checking the properties reveals that this document was originated in Adobe Photoshop CS3 Macintosh. That’s not proof of forgery, but there’s no “date acquired” listed which would have indicated this was scanned.
