They know they can’t get away with that. Won’t be happening.
The GOP is spreading the China mis-info to influence public opinion just as they did back in 2006 when they where trying to get the Domenici-Landrieu Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act passed to open up Area 181 in the Gulf.
The reason they play the China card is to make you jerk your knee so hard, you won't question the Cuba embargo, which not only prevents US companies from drilling Cuban waters, but also prevents any oil produced there from being refined by US refineries, or in US refineries in the Virgin Islands.
The whole point of the article is that in legally drilling on the Cuban side of the 45-mile line, China is dipping its straw into a "milkshake", much of which is on our side of the line. So long as we refuse to drop our own straw into that milkshake, there will be less and less of it left. If you know of a way of forcing oil to not flow downhill to seek its own level, please tell the Democrats before it's too late.
If the Republicans had any sense, they’d run a parallel campaign, totally ignoring dck-head McCain on all issues related to energy and GoreBall Warming.
Might be that all the oil has flowed north anyway.
“In the interest of fairness”,
we must let the ChiComs take our oil,
because our country is too rich, too powerful, uses too many resources, and has too high of a lifestyle.
So long as we refuse to drop our own straw into that milkshake, there will be less and less of it left. You are right. They are drilling our oil. While we sit and do nothing but listen to the hot-air pontifications of Pelosi, Reid and McCain.
So many still don't get it. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE LEFTISTS HAVE ALWAYS WANTED. Their goal is to take America down a few notches and the stragulation of the oil supply to the U.S. has always been the plan. This is a huge milestone for the One-Worlders like the Bush family.
The restriction of the oil supply to the west accomplishes a myriad of the leftist/socialist's goals. Capitalism takes a hit. "Environmentalism" strengthed. Taxes will need to be raised. New protective laws that hamper the freedom of the people and diminish business.
It's all in the handbook.
“As for the Cuban leases, U.S. companies can’t use them because of our trade embargo with Cuba from what little I have read on the subject.”
Yes, I guess we’d have to do some ‘creative drilling’ to get into the same fields from international waters.
On the other hand, Cuba would make a fine new US territory... ;-)
Global warming is NOT a hoax. Al Gore said so. These scientists that are saying it doesnt exist are just using facts. So how can you believe them instead of Al Gore. He won a NOBEL prize for crying out loud.
Oil companies make billions. BILLIONS I tell ya. You are trying to prove your point by using percentages. Thats not fair. I went to public skool and am not sure what you mean when you start using higher math like that.
Of course socialism works, look at the USSR and Cuber. Cuber has the best health care system in the world. Didnt you see Michael Moores movie?”
Ok. I get it. You are using sarcasm. Good job. It’s Funny too. LOL. Luckily I get it and other Freepers will get it too,but i think some idiots(liberals and independents) might take you literally.
“Unless there are drastic changes, the oil companies will either move out of the US or they will be nationalized.
Now, isnt that special.”
Yes, I think you are right about that.
“but i think some idiots(liberals and independents) might take you literally”
You have discovered a profound wish of mine, especially when it comes to my succinct suggestions (spoken in the sundry vernacular of my wild and misspent yute) of their visiting Satin or engaging in solo acts of procreation.

Thank you for the link.
I've discovered a search technique that, if you don't already know it, is helpful in searching this China-Cuba drilling issue.
Use "CUPET" in a Google news search or a Google web search. Then refine, or search within those results, for China.
Having done all that, it appears to me that Cuba contracted with the China company to, in 2005, drill/explore shallow water off the western province for heavy/high sulpher oil. When the rush began(2006) in the northern basin, China leased some equipment to those other companies.
I keep a watch at http://www.rigzone.com/news/
They track all of the offshore drilling rigs in world and report on related news. They even have average rental rates. More information is available for a subscription but much is available free.
