SHAWNEE, Kan. - George Chandler said he feels fine, even though a nailgun fired a 2.5 inch nail into the top of his head on Friday. Chandler and a friend were doing a project in a backyard when the nailgun hose became tangled, causing the tool to fire one nail.
Chandler said Monday he told his friend he didn't know where the nail went, but he felt a sting on the top of his head.
They discovered that the nail was driven deep into Chandler's head, so they called an ambulance and he was rushed to a hospital.
Chandler said a doctor used a common claw hammer to remove the nail.
He said he feels "very lucky, very, very lucky" to have escaped serious injury.
Talk about “hitting the nail on the head”!
Fixed it.

Jeez, who would have that Tim Allen’s Home Improvement ever missed a plot line that good.
Interesting — wonder what safety bypass they rigged that caused that to happen simply because the “airhose became tangled”? I’ll be the first to call BS on that one!!
I wonder if they put wood putty in the hole, sanded it down, and primed it before sending him home. Some carpenters union is going to be ticked about this. They'll probably torch the doc's house.
Wasn’t this Episode #79, on This Old House, when Bob Vila took a nail in the head from Norm, and... no that was Tim Allen’s show, when a coke spoon got embedded in his skull... no, nevermind.
There’s a TV show in this story, somewhere.
T-Bird45: “Ill be the first to call BS on that one!!”
Good point! Anyone who has used a nail gun knows they have numerous safety features. I don’t know of any way to set one off simply by dropping it or tangling the air hose. They either intentionally disabled the safety, or they were horsing around. Now I’m waiting for the next step: a lawsuit against the nail gun manufacturer.
"Oh, YEA?! Well here's a penny NAIL for your THOUGHTS, dude!"
POW!
It would be interesting to see the x-rays on this one.
I hate when that happens.
That’s gotta hurt.
No, that was “Lethal Weapon”...the movie.
Nurse, claw hammer
If it feels good, do it.
