Lord Archer: 'Indians are the new Jews and are taking over Britain'
Daily Mail ^ | 9.6.08 | Pamela Timms

Indians are the 'new Jews' of Britain, which will one day day be ruled by an Indian prime minister, according to disgraced Tory peer Lord Archer.

Archer, who is touring India to promote his latest book, said Indian businessmen are 'taking over' Britain and that Indian mayors and councillors are taking over local government throughout the country.

His comments were made following a number of Indian takeovers of major British companies, such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Corus Steel and the Scottish whisky gian Whyte and Mackay.

In a television interview staged in a glitzy new shopping malls near Delhi, Archer said India's impact on Britain will be 'massive'.

"It is going to be taken over by Indians, and I don't joke," he said.

"Now what you [Indians] are doing is what the Jews did 30-40 years ago when the came to England after the war.

"They took over the local councils and they became mayors. Now they are in Parliament.

"The Indians are now taking over the local councils. There are mayors all over England who are Indian.

"You are young enough to live to an Indian prime minister in England," he said.

The number of Indians living in UK according to 2001 Census is 1,051,800.

The interview took place at a bookshop in a mall in Gurgaon, a new city outside Delhi, where Lord Archer was promoting his latest book 'A Prisoner of Birth'.

The novel is based on the time the former Conservative Party deputy chairman spent in Belmarsh Prison after being sentenced in 2001 to years in jail for perjury and intending to pervert the course of justice.

“But their welcome progress is no cause for complacency, especially when it appears to be so much harder for young people from Pakistani or Bangladeshi families to get ahead.”

Hindu Indians and Muslims from the Subcontinent come from the same genetic stock

The difference is that traditional Hindu culture seems to prize education and hard work, and Muslim culture does not. Muslim culture does not seem to prize the study of anything except Islam

Wikipedia entry.

Like so much, the British adopted so much from India - including so much of the Imperial pomp and paegantry and even formal dress that people thought polo was invented in the green fields of England.

Many many muslims refuse to acknowledge that fact, instead claiming ancestry from Arab invaders, Persians (the post Islamic ones, certainly not from the descendants of Darius and Cyrus) and in one case, (from personal experience) from Yemeni traders.

This is particularly true in Pakistan.

Can’t have anything in common with Pagan and effeminate, cosmopolitan Hindus.

Well, that would make perfect sense then. This guy was like Hugh Grant, with the polite stuttering demeanor.

No, they aren’t, small.

So do the Indians in India realize how so British they are, or is that only apparent to outsiders?

A few of the British-raised Indians I've met were so British I thought that there were gonna come into work pretty soon dressed for polo riding a polo pony. Indian in name only.

With respect, that establishes nothing. The Brits originally got it from the Indians

The modern game of polo, though formalized and popularized by the British, is derived from the princes of the Tibeto-Burman kingdom of Manipur (now a state in India) in the Southeastern Himalaya, who played the game while they were in exile in India sometime between 1819 and 1826.

The probably is the average Brit does not recognise the difference between India and Pakistan and the 2 groups of people often the generic term Asian or Indian encompasses both groups.

I have often heard Pakistan and Indians referred to just Indians or Pakis and people not appreciating the difference.

As to integration in Britain I would say the group that has assimilated the best and considers themselves British if born here is the West Indian community both Indians and Pakistanis would put their ethnic and religious group first and their Brutishness next. I give you that on the whole the Indians are very hard working and contribute to our economy but have not integrated and keep themselves apart in a very similar way to the Jewish community but the Jewish community does consider themselves British even if they do not general mix socially with the indigenous Brits.

Bottom line many Brits are ignorant between the different ethnic groups from Asian and Archer is exploiting this ignorance to get himself publicity which he converts.

Surprises me not my experience of Indians certainly from India.

On the other hand many Indians who have found their way to Britain via Africa and there is a large Indian/Asian community in many of the ex Commonwealth countries in India do consider themselves British and sometimes side with the indigenous Brits against further immigration and pandering to certain groups.

Maybe the Indians you have had contact with are in fact those who fled Africa maybe as in the case of our local chemist Uganda under Amin.

Whilst I agree in most part there are unfortunately many Brits who do not appreciate the difference between Indians, Pakistanis, Bangaldesh etc and use the terms Indian, Asians or Pakis to include all groups including Asians from Africa.

The average Brit would not appreciate tensions between the various group much of which is religious. Many Indians are insulted and denegrated with term Paki.

Many English do not appreciate that the majority of Indian restaurants are Bangaldesh and this is one of few acceptations where they do separate Indians and Pakistanis and think that Indian restaurants are actually Indians from India.

Well since the Europeans are doing nothing, it’ll be up to the Indians in Britain to stop the growing Muslim threat.

Exactly! If you carefully look, you will see that the Indians are the only ones who have figured out the threat of Communists and Islamofascists and actively oppose them. Of course, Republicans oppose them too but we are forced to follow some pro-Moslem policies set by our politicians. Europe actually supports the Communists and Islamofascists as do the members of the Democrat Party. When I hear a Democrat Party member call someone a Hindu fundamentalist I know that he really means someone with a sane head on his shoulders.

>>So do the Indians in India realize how so British they are,

I suppose some do, but there’s also the overlay that some of what the world considers British can partly be seen to have originated in India, Polo, for example, drinking tea, another.

There is a deep appreciation for the English virtues of not blowing your own horn, understatement, a dry wit and coolness under pressure and in the Army in particular, British moraes may well still be adhered to.

And the relationship is symbiotic, no one loves India more than the British, just read The Last Moghul by Thomas Dalrymple to get an idea.

But, in a nutshell, it’s far more evident to outsiders.
