Jim Geraghty takes a look at longstanding blog buzz over Barack Obamas birth certificate, which the campaign refused to release to the St. Petersburg Times in April:
We tried to obtain a copy of Obamas birth certificate, but his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public.
Has anyone seen it? Why shouldnt the record be in the public domain for presidential candidates?
Geraghty walks through various rumors now circulating in the wake of the Obama campaigns birth certificate blackout, including this one:
Rumor Three: His mother did not want to name him after his father, and his birth certificate says Barry. Perhaps the most plausible of the rumors, as Obama was known by that name through much of his childhood and young adulthood. If true, this would spur a new round of When Barry Became Barack stories a minor headache for the campaign, but hardly a major scandal.
Lest the Obama campaign start whining about this issue being an unfair distraction, John McCain underwent intense scrutiny of his citizenship status because of his birth in the Panama Canal zone, leading the Senate to declare him a natural-born citizen in April.
Maybe it doesn’t exist, which might be problematic since we are then asked to take him at his word that he was born in Hawaii.
Truer words have never been typed. The challenge for the beast is to make sure her fingerprints are nowhere to be found.
It's still kickin'here:
I give him a pass on this deal. It’s private.
I learned at age 30 that my legal mother was not my biological mother when I needed my birth certificate to get a passport.
What his parents did should cast no shadow on the man. He couldn’t choose them.
His birth certificate probably says, Barack Mohammed Hussein Obama, Muslim. That’s why he won’t release it.

Thanks for the support. This needs to be said every hour until people “get it.”
Since Hawaii was a US territory in 1959, his citizenship would still not be in question. Barry Goldwater ran for president and he was born in the Arizona territory.
It wouldn't be difficult to learn the fact, but producing some evidence would be the hurdle. Clerks and bureaucrats at all levels have access to records like birth certificates. They can easily view them, just not release them.
That said, I'm skeptical. He would have had to produce a birth certificate to obtain a passport which he would need to travel internationally. He has travelled as a Senator, hasn't he?
Maybe it has the word “Phillipines” whited out and “Hawaii” written over it. And the name of the mother is someone who’s not an American citizen.
You’re not running for POTUS with a background of Marxism and ties to enemies of America.
We need to be making this an issue for Rush, Hanniety and any other talker who can keep asking the questions about the Manchurian Canidate. This is getting very fishy.... or should he be swimming with the fish.
We have a right to know who this guy is.............
Wow. That has been my mantra here for eight years. I, too, wish Republicans would engage in good old-fashioned smashmouth politics. Don't be surprised if some trolls crawl out and tell you that conservatives need to "rise above" the tactics of the left, "or we are just like them", etc. Horse manure. Fight 'em where they live. Strangle them with their own intestines.

If he was born in Kenya, then he probably does not, because that rule, that his single US parent had to be at least 16, lived in the US for 10 years, five of which had to consequatively before the birht, then comes into play.

If I were running for POTUS, my birth records would be off limits. Just because he doesn't vote like me doesn't mean I'm entitled to every tiny detail of his life.
It is because of the demands for purity by people like you that qualified candidates with an (R) in the voting book won't run for office.
What's a poor girl have to say?
Maybe a Freeper from Hawaii can tell us what the birth certificate looked like for anybody in 1961. That should be easy to research
If it were true though, they would trickle it out to tickle the internet or talk radio into ferretting it out for them so they would not be held to blame by their cohorts and could step in as saviors.
