Obama Could Debunk Some Rumors By Releasing His Birth Certificate
National Review Online ^

Posted on 06/10/2008 6:23:59 AM PDT by Blue Turtle

Having done some Obama-rumor debunking that got praise from Daily Kos (a sign of the apocalypse, no doubt), perhaps the Obama campaign could return the favor and help debunk a bunch of others with a simple step: Could they release a copy of his birth certificate?

"Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock"

Perhaps this is the real kicker, if Obama was born out of wedlock to an already married man and girl who had mot yet reach an age of majority (The Ability to vote and exercise all rights as an American citizen)then He may not be eligible to run for the presidency because he isn't a citizen naturalized or Native born based upon the law at the time.

What does the law say about a child born out of wedlock to a minor child Obama's mother was Married (to a bigamist or polygamist) at 17 and gave birth to him after 6 months and she had turned 18.

.....“McCain’s Canal Zone Birth Prompts Queries About Whether That Rules Him Out”.......

That's OK, If it will get rid of Obama, I'll gladly have a "do over" with McCain. Maybe we'll get a chance at Duncan Hunter this time.

The point being made is that the law after 1986 changed.

The law you quoted does not apply. Hawaii was a State in 1961 so Obama was not born abroad.

Precisely. He was born to a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil. This is a silly non-issue, and it makes us all look foolish.
Do people really want the public perception to be that the greatest counterarguments to Barry are some chain-email nonsense like this?

Well, the thread started out asking, “Why not release it?” He could do so today and a lot of conservatives would have egg on their face except...

...what if it has “hard to defend” info that was mentioned earlier?

My BC has the religion of my parents, does BO’s say his parents are Muslim? He could lose some Muslim voters if he “converted”.

Was he born Barry Durham? Does that mean he’s a bastard?

Is his mother’s birthdate consistent with being legally married or was his Kenyan father a predator? Corollary: Was BO conceived out of wedlock (although I belive that is established already)?

And, consistent with my tag line, does it say Barry was born female? [chuckle]

Is that legal? From the little bit of genealogy research I’ve done, I thought the person had to be deceased in order to get a copy.

Every state has their own regulations on getting a birth certificate. Some states you can get on line and just go through their data base others are more restrictive.
I looked up Hawaii and they are pretty restrictive about issuing birth certificates. They have a long lost of who can and can not get a copy.

This is from the HI website. What does it refer to?

Who is Eligible to Apply for a Genealogy Request?

Any private individual or individual employed, endorsed, or sponsored by a governmental or private organization or agency, working on genealogy projects may apply for issuance of copies of vital records on file with the Department of Health. Any applicant seeking issuance of copies of vital records of events that occurred seventy-five years or less prior to the current year must establish a direct and tangible interest in the records to be eligible for them (see Certified Copies for more information). An applicant need not establish a direct and tangible interest in vital records of events that occurred more than seventy-five years prior to the current year to apply for these records.

What does it refer to?

I guess all vital records--marriages, births, and deaths. Sounds like if the event occurred in the last 75 years you need to prove your direct interest in that information before it will be issued.
