NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- On the first day of what is to be a two-week economic tour around the country, Barack Obama said Monday that lawmakers should inject another $50 billion immediately into the sluggish U.S. economy.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee cited the largest monthly increase in the unemployment rate in over 20 years, and record highs in oil prices, food prices and foreclosures.

That would stimulate the economy. Eliminate the capital gains tax as well.

Didn’t Clinton give 50 billions to Mexico to bail out their economy? It was a secret fund for a rainy day for Americans. Where is this 50 billions coming from?

Of course the unemployment rate spiked up. It always does when the Democrat Congress raises the minimum wage. No more summer jobs, kiddies.

“The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee cited the largest monthly increase in the unemployment rate in over 20 years,...”

I guess Barry O’ didn’t get the memo about the thousands of high school and college grads that enter the job market every year at this time. The “unemployment” rate always goes up this time of year due that fact.

Then too the Dems insisted upon raising the minimum wage, so now there aren’t the jobs for the grads there used to be. They cost too much now.

One bill, expected to go to the House floor for consideration this week, calls for an additional 13 weeks of benefits to be added to what is typically a 26-week cap on federal payments. In addition, it calls for 13 weeks on top of that for workers in states with very high unemployment rates.

I ax ya idnt a brother spose ta hep a brother out?

39 weeks is more than half a year. That’s absurd. The idea is to sustain you so that you can get a job. It’s not to create more welfare, but here we go again.

Could someone tell this idiot that the last stimulus package has not even been delivered to all of the recipients. Many of the checks will not be mailed for another month. It's like saying the surge failed before all of the troops had even been deployed.

Now if he really wanted to stimulate the economy he would suggest cutting taxes, making the Bush tax cuts permanent, and drilling for America's own oil.

Then too the Dems insisted upon raising the minimum wage, so now there aren’t the jobs for the grads there used to be.

Every one of my friends in the Engineering School had multiple offers from different employers. Every one of them is earning over $60K plus benefits.

If you partied college away and screwed around in a worthless major (few majors are truly worthless, but almost anything that includes the word "studies" qualifies, though) and decided not to pursue a practical advanced degree (like an MBA, a JD, or an MA/MS/ME/MCS in Engineering or the Physical Sciences), tough luck. Payback's a bitch, ain't it?

Unfortunately, those folks vote.

This guy is all over the place. Clearly the man is for confiscatory taxation in order to redistribute the money. Why not give out 5% of the annual budget? What the hell, why not give 100% of it? Inflation? Ok then give out 200% of it!

Yup. Now if he said “lets invest $50 billion into Nuclear Energy and Electric powered speed trains” I might think he at least wanted to do some real good. This is just pure bullS and I hope nobody falls for it... and that some people from the left of center call him on it.

But remember, this guy was against a gas tax holiday, and against the Bush rebate. But he is for sending $50 billion out. Which is $25 billion less than he originally suggested during the primary. Is there any logic? Oh I’m sure he’ll come up with some, retroactive rationale.. but no logic or consistency can be found.
