“Willing to assist in the “Tribal Lands” of Pakistan & Afghanistan? HUGE.... “

POTUS Hussein ObamaMessiaHamas would call these brave Iraqi’s war criminals if they dared to fight his Iranian and OSama brothers.

“Of his meeting with Mr. Bush, Sheik Ahmad said he was impressed. ‘He is a brave man. He is also a wise man. He is taking care of the country’s future, the United States’ future. He is also taking care of the Iraqi people, the ordinary people in Iraq. He wants to accomplish success in Iraq.’ ...In his home province in Iraq, Sheik Ahmad’s public addresses are preceded by two bugle players and an announcer proclaiming him as the ‘conqueror of Al Qaeda,’ and ‘friend of General Petraeus,’ among other formal titles”

It is the OBL organization they wish to take down. They know OBL is out of the picture and won’t waste a penny looking for him.

Yes, unlike spoiled Americans, this Iraqi appreciates the fight against AQ.

In the modern US, only the critic is King, only the critic is patriotic, and only the critic is allowed to argue with hindsight and garner respect.

Not so sure this is a sound idea. Perhaps they would be better serving by integrating more closely with the Iraqi military and police forces and soundly securing larger areas of border crossing between Iraq and it's seven neighbors. Let the US and NATO take care of al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan.
The Iraqi Sunni have no military equipment and expertise to go in and take out Bin Laden forces. It is not practical. What is the US supposed to do. Train them to fight like our Marines then set a battalion or so of them loose. Don't make any sense to me. There are plenty of Afghans now on our side fighting al Qaeda and the Taliban. Why throw another element into the battle that is ill trained in the type of warfare required to take out large numbers of enemy in remote often mountainous regions.

“When Sheik Ahmad’s brother, Sheik Sattar, met with Mr. Bush in Anbar last fall, he told the president that he dedicated his victory over Al Qaeda to the victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001. On September 13, 2007, Sheik Sattar was assassinated by an improvised explosive device. Since then, his brother Sheik Ahmad has led the awakening movement.”

“Al Qaeda is an ideology,” Sheik Ahmad said. “We can defeat them inside Iraq and we can defeat them in any country.”

I agree. He and his men can do more good securing Iraq.

Bin Laden and AQ are easily noticed in the FATA and NWFP but their friends there accept them and their money.

If these Iraqi-sounding Iraqis showed up they would be ratted out immediately and neutralized.

They are minimally helpful as translators but they know nothing of Pashto or Urdu or Dari. They are not tactically competent and we couldn't let irregulars mix with our troops without a great deal of personal familiarity.

Nice sentiment, not practical.

This is the real Deal. This is a MUST read. AMAZING that it’s in the MSM.....

And its true, the model they are using against AQ in Iraq CAN be used everywhere, and SHOULD be!
