World Health Organization Admits Threat of Global AIDS Epidemic Is Over
Fox News / The Independent (U.K.) ^ | June 8, 2008

Posted on 06/08/2008 8:08:28 AM PDT by Stoat

The head of the World Health Organization’s HIV/AIDS department has officially admitted for the first time that there will be no global epidemic of the disease among the heterosexual population outside Africa, The Independent reported.

Kevin de Cock said global prevention strategies to address AIDS as a risk to all populations, among the WHO and major AIDS organizations, may have been misdirected. It is now recognized that, with the exception of sub-Saharan African, it is confined to high-risk groups.

These groups include men who have sex with other men, drug users who inject with needles, and sex workers and their clients, The Independent reported.

“It is very unlikely there will be a heterosexual epidemic in other countries,” de Cock is quoted in The Independent. “Ten years ago a lot of people were saying there would be a generalized epidemic in Asia — China was the big worry with its huge population. That doesn't look likely. But we have to be careful. As an epidemiologist it is better to describe what we can measure. There could be small outbreaks in some areas.”

About 12 years ago, when AIDS orgn.(homosexual orgn.) were raging for the entire research budget to go to AIDS, because it was becoming the #1 killer and would get us heterosexuals, too, I googled statistics from NIH and made a little chart. At that time, it was 3d or 4th--and only among some demographics. They lied and Congress and media pandered.

My hero, Jesse Helms, stood up in the Senate and said (paraphrased) that the AIDS growth was because of a filthy life style and if they wanted to stop AIDS, they should change their habits. Of course, the media and many of his fellow senators pilloried Senator Helms, but he never backpeddled one iota. That is why I liked him so much--came to Wash. conservative and NEVER gave up his conservative principles or catered to libs and media.

OMG, please send us some more conservative senators with backbone and cajones.

"In the US , the rate of infection among men in Washington DC is well over 100 times higher than in North Dakota, the region with the lowest rate. That is in one country. How do you explain such differences?"

I'm completely baffled. Utterly flummoxed. Totally mystified. Probably Karl Rove has something to do with it.

...that there will be no global epidemic of the disease among the heterosexual population outside Africa...

Can someone please explain this to me...

1. "there will be no"...not there is not, but there will be no? How do they know this?

2. Why the heterosexual community in Africa, but don't expect it elsewhere?

Any insight will be appreciated.

Okay, I understand their individually-planted crops failed, and Ethiopia is, as always, malnurished and will need continued aid. But what shortage? I know of no worldwide-food shortage. IOW, what shortage is causing food prices to increase?

What a suprise. /s

Actually, I 'am' rather surprised that they would actually admit it.  How often does that happen?

The left’s biggest myth about Reagan is that he let a lot of gays die due to his inaction with the AIDS epidemic. That is what I was referring to.

I attended an AIDS awareness briefing that was given by a Navy Chief (Corpsman) in 1989. He said exactly the same thing. Funny that he had it figured out 19 years ago and the WHO has wrestled with it for so long before coming to the same answer.

The up side, however, is that the basic research done on viruses like HIV has given us new insight into cancer and other related diseases.

Agreed, and I apologize that my flippant reply didn't make it clear that I got your meaning.  Not enough coffee for me so far this morning, perhaps  :-)

More money! more money! Why are we sending BILLIONS of $ to
Africa? Let them starve, die from AIDS, Hack each other to death, War, spread desease while we burn food for energy.
I’m getting tired living hand to mouth because of taxes and national debt.
Aids and ebola, “jobs Americans just wont do....’cept in San Fran. Ca.”

No problem. I am a Reagan conservative, so I am not disrespecting him. And I knew you were not accusing me of doing so. I just figured that you may not have known what I was really referring to since some conservatives don’t know that lie about Reagan (he did nothing about AIDS, etc.).

Reagan probably also knew AIDS was not the biggest priority (we have finite resources) at the time and thus he did what he thought he could about it and then went on to solving more important issues.

The next money maker has already been advertised. It is Chapter 3 Verse 9-20 of the Book of Climate Change.

Global Warming will cause the spread of tropical diseases throughout temperate zones. This may well happen unless we surrender individual liberty and submit to global socialism.
You only have 50-100 years until we all die of disease, starvation, societal collapse, and cannibalism unless you vote all green/socialist policies in now.

Now we will play the collection hymn as the basket passes. Please turn to page 22 in you music books for “Saint Gore on the banks of the River Soros."

However, I believe that you're right in your forecast. There will be a "delcared" shortage, and they will control prices further with deliberate fuel cost increases to the point where not only will middle-class America suffer, but third world countries will face a politically-controlled starvation.

Yes, the tyranny of the left and the religion of Global Warming are upon us — it is just amazing to watch the spineless, gutless wonders in Congress, including our esteemed Presidential candidates, cower and grovel to the Gods of the Environment -— just amazing.

The collectivists have long since figured out that humanity can only be properly manipulated of they are facing one terrible crisis at a time, and they’re usually discovered to be hoaxes after a decade or so. Thus, when the coming Ice Age of the 1970s didn’t pan out, we had the Over-Population crisis of the 1980s. When the projected population explosion didn’t occur, we segued neatly to the AIDS crisis of the 1990s. Since Global Warming is the latest rage, we have to abandon the Everyone Has AIDS tactic and promote GW. Once that is debunked, in about 2 more years, we’ll probably find that something new threatens us all. Too many obese people are destabilizing the Earth’s rotation, maybe? Tax on food but only in countries with lots of obese people? Like America, mostly? Sound likely?
