Are Conservatives Dead or Resting?

I think we're regrouping. It's going to take awhile & I think the next tent we put up needs to be a little "smaller". We need to stick to our principles. It will take some time & dedication & the biggest thing we need is a LEADER to lead us out of the wilderness. We'll know him when we see him (or perhaps HER?)

They need to sober up and get into rehabilitation with a twelve step program. I am working on the first two steps.

Step l Even though you voted for guys named George Bush six times on national tickets, they are not, nor were they EVER conservatives.

Step 2 NEVER TRUST RINO SENATORS, let alone vote for one for President.

Conservatives aren’t dead, but the GOP is terminal with an assisted suicide specialist nominated to provide the lethal dose.

Conservatives are not dead. We are simply giving Liberalism enough rope to hang itself. When the American people see the truth- that is, how utterly ruinous, dehumanizing and lethal the lie of liberalism really is- they will flush the toilet and return to the principles upon which our country was founded.

"States rights" and "law and order" were racist code words calculated to appeal to the racist hearts of white Southern voters.

These themes appealed to a much broader audience than racist white Southerners. In 1968, concern over the growing power of Washington bureaucrats, the rising crime rate, and riots on college campuses and at national political conventions was rising throughout the nation.

By the way, in his book The Winning Side--The Case For Goldwater Republicanism (Putnam's, 1963), Ralph de Toledano provided evidence that in the South, white racists tended to vote for Democrats, while a growing, nonracist conservative element was increasingly voting Republican.

Conservatives have a cure for wage stagnation and inequality. It is called education reform. Conservatives have a cure for inequality. It is called Social Security reform and aims to get lower-income Americans onto the wealth creation ladder. But we can't enact reform because Democrats won't let us.

Those are slow, academic cures that won't appeal in the political arena to voters who demand instant solutions. Democrats have no moral issues with lying about the supposedly immediate effects of their proposals (usually, tax increases on people the public dislikes, anyway) so they get the votes.

‘Upon further review’.

McCain thinks Lieberman is a Conservative. Conservatives haven’t disappeared they are just reinventing themselves as McCain supporters.

No, not dead or resting. Restless, maybe. Pissed off, definitely.

What we are lacking is someone to lead and inspire. Someone to steel the spines of those who are willing to vote for McCain and sell out the Republican party.

We are the divided nation that Nixon Byrd, Gore Sr., Fulbright, George Wallace, LBJ and the not-so-great society, The Nation of Islam, the Black Panther Party, the Abortocrats, and legions of miscellaneous useful idiots created.

Conservatives under 40 are rarely any longer social conservatives.

They are Scoop Jackson Democrats really.

Silent Majority....in the cemetary mostly now.

Moral Majority......probably over 50% dead now.

I’m 50 and I’m the tail end of the culture war righties.

I read what kids around here say about gender, race and religion and they all sound like my college professors did in the 70s.

Now most conservatives seem incapable of even acknowledging the central issues of our moment: wage stagnation, inequality, health care, global warming. They are stuck in the past, in the dogma of limited government.

I think this dude, like Mike Huckabee, has been listening to Mike Huckabee's pollsters.

Followers, not leaders, just like 99% of the so-called "leaders" in America today...in the GOP, and even in "conservative" positions of "power."

And they're following the Left...to hell in a handbasket.

We conservatives are watching for a few years, as anarchists and communists sponsoring our leadership now will learn about consequences. Due to our current policies, we’ll be involved in a war the likes the world has never seen within the next few years. Our Nation will then need men and will be forced to honor those men, after they return.

Conservative voters face two main thoughts on this situation...keep electing anyone as long as they have the “R” regardless of principles/convictions or vote /not vote for someone else.

This arguement has been going on for years within conservative groups and I, as well as others, have given a pass to many R candidates and just voted for them...and be dissapointed at the results. All we see is a slow death of conservatism.

For myself the last few years have been the breaking point and Ill no longer vote for any R that doesnt stand against the RATS. The cant we all just get along crowd needs to be sent packing...start new and take the fight to the RATS.

Both of my worthless Senators ..Dole and Burr will not get my vote. Dole is in big trouble in her 08 re-election and probably wont win. Burr has proven to be an empty suit and more than likely will lose in 2010. The current leadership of the GOP/RNC has stabbed me in the back for the last time.

It will be painfull for one or two election cycles but at least the conservative base will have an opportunity to re-group.

Dead as far as the GOP. McCain will run as a Democrat, and has showed great disdain for conservatives. We don't really matter to either party right now.

“Are Conservatives Dead or Resting?”

I hope they are stocking up on necessities like torches, pitchforks, tar-feathers. They should already have plenty of guns and ammo stashed in a safe place.
