The North Carolina State Republican Convention got quite exciting today and it had nothing to do with politics.
During a pre-event hospitality breakfast, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who was in attendance as the conventions keynote speaker, was sitting next to North Carolina Lt. Gov. candidate Robert Pittenger when the state senator began choking. Huckabee reportedly noticed Pittenger having difficulty breathing and immediately began performing the Heimlich maneuver.
Im glad that Mike was in the right place at the right time and continued to lead by example, Former South Carolina Lt. Gov. candidate Mike Campbell told The Palmetto Scoop. We all know that [Huckabee] is pro-life, and once again he has lived up to it.
Pittenger, whose company Bahakel Communications owns WOLO-TV in Columbia, apparently suffers from acid reflux, which likely caused the incident to occur.
Huckabee was trained as an EMT in college and has been in similar situations before, his daughter Sarah said, noting that he instinctively reacted.
Reports are that Pittenger is doing fine and is already back on the campaign trail.
NC ping.
Mike, Mike, you were supposed to stage that in JANUARY! (Just kidding)

Huckabee has been in similar situations before, his daughter Sarah said, noting that he instinctively reacted.
Thank you, Gov Huckabee. Lt Gov Pittinger is someone NC needs - if we can possibly break the backs of the death gripping Dem political machine in NC...
Just imagine if this situation had arisen with ANY of the Dem political presidential candidates...
1. NONE of them would have cared to lower themselves to help someone in this kind of dire condition
2. ALL of them - if by God’s miracle - they HAD saved a life like this - would have been before the cameras and on all the Sunday talk shows.....etc etc ad nauseaum.
Gov Huckabee - a REPUBLICAN - saves a life and he can’t even be located to talk about it.
Wake up - there is a HUGE difference between political parties and the people in them.
Chuck Norris would have jumped down andidate Robert Pittenger’s throat to retrieve the obstruction.
Huckabee did just that. He didn't panic, assessed the situation, and reacted in a proper manner and in the process, saving a life.
You idiots with your stupid remarks and responses would do well to remember that, regardless of what you think of him politically.
Thanks Mike, I didn’t want to vote for a dead guy.
He did good here...
...But he still was an awful, destructive liberal RINO Governor who killed the Arkansas GOP, and had zilch business running for President.
Ruinations:
Huckabee = AR GOP
GWB = national GOP
Romney =MA GOP
Can it be
Perry = TX GOP next?
Chuck Norris would have jumped down andidate Robert Pittengers throat to retrieve the obstruction.
Aboslutely!
Good one.
Whether you like Huckabee as a politician or not you have to give the man credit for helping someone in obvious distress.
I had to perform the Heimlich maneuver years ago on a co-worker who tried to ingest a piece of pork chop that was a little too big. Scary situation but I did what needed to be done without hesitation. All those years of repeated first aid/ safety training were not a waste of time afterall.
Shhhh ... you're not supposed to know he's really a pro-life Demoncrat. After all, Dr. Dobson told the Evangelicals to vote for him, AFTER Mitt, the Mormon dropped out with MORE delegates than Mike. Eventually, months later Mike had more than Mitt.
This was well done by Governor Huckabee.
Wrong! Chuck Norris would have stared at the obstruction and it would have jumped out of Pittenger’s throat to avoid pissing Norris off.
Im glad that Mike was in the right place at the right time and continued to lead by example, Former South Carolina Lt. Gov. candidate Mike Campbell told The Palmetto Scoop. We all know that [Huckabee] is pro-life, and once again he has lived up to it.
This sentence is what bugs me about this whole report. They are OBVIOUSLY using this incident POLITICALLY......so why shouldn’t we?
While performing the Heimlich maneuver Gov. Huckabee was heard to be muttering “Out you devil out leave this man and don’t come back”. /sarc
>>>>Huckabee did just that. He didn’t panic, assessed the situation, and reacted in a proper manner and in the process, saving a life.
As a trained First Responder (sort of a 1/2 EMT), the first thing you learn is to follow your diagnostic protocol. Then you act.
There’s no time for panic.
