McCain should suspend his campaign (Vanity)
Little House on Unaka | June 7, 2008 | don-o

Posted on 06/07/2008 3:45:13 PM PDT by don-o

Today, I am calling for John McCain to immediately suspend all campaigning for the Presidency until Labor Day. Let the full spotlight shine upon Barak Obama.

Give him plenty of room to declare his vision for America and give plenty of space for the hard left America haters to drive it home.

The conservative movement is adrift and sees that its values seemingly have become irrelevant to the Republican Party. We grasp at the straw of hope that McCain will make good judicial appointments and maintain our nation’s military strength.

However, he is not trusted and we end up with the “lesser of two evils” situation, which has thoroughly discussed here and elsewhere. It may be possible than he will govern more conservatively that the current President, who has been a disappointment to conservatives. One can hold out that hope.

The fact is that Obama makes a much prettier package to sell to the sheeple. Some time is going to be needed for the shallowness and vacuity that defines the man to fully emerge for all to see. McCain does himself no favor by a premature engagement with him

So, take the summer off, John. Save your money. See you in September.

G’morning! It’s a clever idea. These days though- the cycle of news and 24/7 coverage of every word a candidate says- it would never work. Imagine all the challenges Obama will make to McCain- now imagine them all going unanswered for 3 months.

Not practical!

It would be better to define what's legal to snipe at for both candidates:

* Their experience or lack of experience
* Their voting record or lack of one
* Their stated positions on policies

On this, both candidates will have much to answer for. However, I wouldn't push on the occasional misstatement or I wouldn't include their wives in the issue. Hillary Clinton appears to be an aberration in the train on First Ladies.

I'm still trying to figure out how the hell Mcpain won.

I think that it was a combination of the Party's refusal to have CLOSED PRIMARIES, and a certain amount of collusion between McPain and the Huckster. Factor in Rudy's idiotic campaign, FReds lack of "fire in the belly" and the Evangelical distrust of Mormanism, and there you have it... the Perfect Storm. (I'm still at a loss as to why Duncan Hunter didn't do better.)

I'm sitting out the Presidential race this time, and may be sitting out the Senate race, as well. If Lindsey Graham wins the primary, I will have no one to vote for because even the Democrats are so happy with him that they say they will not field a candidate to run against him.

Denial, anger, disbelief the whole shebang. I'm at acceptance now. Acceptance that I have no candidate to vote for.

Me too, but I will still go to the polls. I'll just have to go pretty far down the ballot before voting.

Maybe there will be a true conservative running for dog catcher or something.

Hey, ya gotta start somewhere.

Not practical!

Maybe not. But, for now, less John - more Barry ---- that's a winning formula.

Rather makes my point, now doesn’t it?

McCain will not say, “My opponent is a bumbling sock puppet speech reader with brown fluff for brains.”

So, just stay totally silent and let the voters (and the MSM) get a full load of who this bozo really is.

McCain truly needs to withdrawal from the Presidential race so that a true conservative will be able to replace him. This is truly the worst Presidential choices, ever!

I think as a true American he should realize that right now we need a true conservative fiscal conservative leader that is young and has the cahonies to tell the dems to get stuffed.

McCain knows what his campaign is doing to the GOP and the cause of Conservatism, but he puts his own interests first; he should have switched parties a long time ago.

I think you are right on target. The natives are very restless. I have never seen the frustration at the current level and I have been around longer than I care to admit. The set-up right, the entitlement mentality is at and all time modern high. Part of the success of Bama is the fact that people want to believe in something. W has left the mainstream nothing to “believe” in and the MSM’s longmarch of negativism is sinking in. It is indeed going to be a long 4 years. If I lived near a major metro area would get out now. Chicago, LA, New Orleans, Dallas, Atlanta bail while you can. Oh and believe me the white supremacists are sitting around licking their chops waiting for it to start. They see this as a major opportunity to settle some scores.

There is a fringe community out there many people would like to think doesn’t exist but it does. Many people are out of touch with reality. They think it can’t happen here.Anyone that lived and witnessed the 60’s can tell you that it can happen and with the availability of the internet chaos and riots could spread like STD’s through a gay bath house.

I see it also. I make it point to engage as many people from all stratas of society as I can and try and find out where their heads are. It is truly a scary experience. The number of ostriches is stunning. Then I realized many of them have never had an unpleasant moment in their lives. The worst thing that ever happen to them is that the nail salon or Best Buy was closed the day they wanted to go there. That is going to change.

Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, Germany's highest scoring World War One ace, lost 3 aircraft...

So how many enemy aircraft did McCain shoot down?

That’s what George H. W. Bush did and he let clintoon walk all over him.

Mary Matilin gave him that advice- that he should look presidential and not stoop to campaigning until after the convention.

He was never able to get any traction after that.

Well, no, because, in football terms, Obama will do exactly what he did for the last quater of his battle with Hillary: He will go into Prevent Defense and start taking kneel-downs.

The liberal news media (the Zebras) will simply look on, with smiles on their faces, as Obama takes a kneel-down on 24rd down and then lines up to take another kneel-down on 25th down.

You can't let that happen. The opposing Coach needs to be throwing Red Flags on the field because the Zebras will NOT do their job in holding Obama to account.

In Prevent Defense Mode, Obama would stick to Tele-Prompter speeches, TV ads and the adoration of the sycophant liberal news media that even SNL recognizes.

What will happen is this. McCain has challenged Obama to a round of town-hall debates and Obama has accepted.

By forcing Obama to the nationally televised stage, McCain has taken away the Prevent Defense Mode. Obama will be challenged in front of a nation-wide TV audience.

Changing the minds of the Sheeple is like stopping the momentum of an oil tankers. It takes a loooong time. If you wait until the Fourth Quarter to try to make a come back, Obama could wheeze victoriously across the finish line in November just as he did against Hillary.

Interesting projection on your part.

But according to the Media history, at around August, will start the Public opinion polls where 70% of Americans see Obama and the Democrats as the very best for the economy, lowering gas prices, the environment, renewable energy, health care, ending the war, (add your favorite Liberal issue)

Ignorant/Lemming America will flock to the polls to vote Democrat, on their way to the cliff.

I read your post a couple of times, and sure enough, that's how he pulled it off. I followed the debates and Mcpain was about as inspiring as a patient under ether.

As for the open primaries, that was the kiss of death. Stupid, stupid, stupid thing for them to have done.

)(I'm still at a loss as to why Duncan Hunter didn't do better.)

Hell, even FReepers were chopping him down at his knees and he was a conservative. Some complained about his hair cut, or it looked like he was wearing a suit from JC Penney's. Can you believe that sh!t. Hunter was my man from the very beginning. He spoiled me for every other candidate. They weren't fit to tie his shoes.

I think that is what galls me when it comes to this election. A fine man like Hunter pushed aside for the likes of Mcpain.

Maybe there will be a true conservative running for dog catcher or something.

There's just gotta be a conservative somewhere on the ballot.

We already decided to work on the local and state levels to get conservatives elected. Like you said, gotta start somewhere.

By forcing Obama to the nationally televised stage, McCain has taken away the Prevent Defense Mode.

It's a good rebuttal of Operation Hiatus. But, deja vu - the Nixon / Kennedy debates of 1960. On content, Nixon won; but, Kennedy actually was perceived as the winner by TeeVee viewers, because he was just so damned good looking.

Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, Germany's highest scoring World War One ace, lost 3 aircraft...

So how many enemy aircraft did McCain shoot down?

Just as many as the number of heavily defended ground targets that Manfred von Richthofen bombed.

John McCain flew in Attack Squadrons.

You do know the difference between an Attack Squadron (VA) and a Fighter Squadron (VF), don't you?

This is the type of fighting that McCain did in his squadron, VA-163:

Several citations mention his achievements either as a prisoner or as a lieutenant commander flying BOMBING runs off the deck of the USS Oriskany. .... The citations refer to his "accurate ordnance delivery" and his "aggressive and skillful airmanship." He earned his Bronze Star the day before he was shot down, for participating in a mission over an airfield in Phuc Yen, 11 miles north of Hanoi. ..... The citation for his Distinguished Flying Cross sums up McCain's misfortune the following day: .... "Although his aircraft was severely damaged, he continued his bomb delivery pass and released his bombs on the target. When the aircraft would not recover from the dive, Commander McCain was forced to eject over the target."

Here are some visual aids for you:

Fokker Dr.I fighter aircraft (designed to shoot down enemy aircraft):

A-4 Skyhawk attack aircraft (designed to drop bombs on enemy ground or surface targets):

Actually The North Vietnamese dared not engage the Nimble little Skyhawk in dogfight.

Although it was an Attack aircraft it is second only to the Harrier in maneuverability in a dogfight and was armed with two wing rooted 20mm cannon which were not on Navy F-4 Phantoms of the time. Once the bombs were dropped an A-4 could easily dispatch any of the older MIGs sent against it. In fact they were used as aggressors for Top Gun for many years to train the Navy's best Fighter pilots how to win in a dogfight.

Had the opportunity present itself McCain's A-4 was more than up to the task of dogfighting anything the NVAF had.

Well, it was a rhetorical question.

So why are you comparing aircraft losses between fighter pilots and attack (bomber) pilots?

Kind of an apples to oranges comparison, isn't it?
