Today, I am calling for John McCain to immediately suspend all campaigning for the Presidency until Labor Day. Let the full spotlight shine upon Barak Obama.
Give him plenty of room to declare his vision for America and give plenty of space for the hard left America haters to drive it home.
The conservative movement is adrift and sees that its values seemingly have become irrelevant to the Republican Party. We grasp at the straw of hope that McCain will make good judicial appointments and maintain our nations military strength.
However, he is not trusted and we end up with the lesser of two evils situation, which has thoroughly discussed here and elsewhere. It may be possible than he will govern more conservatively that the current President, who has been a disappointment to conservatives. One can hold out that hope.
The fact is that Obama makes a much prettier package to sell to the sheeple. Some time is going to be needed for the shallowness and vacuity that defines the man to fully emerge for all to see. McCain does himself no favor by a premature engagement with him
So, take the summer off, John. Save your money. See you in September.
Do you have any doubt about what the kooks in this country might do? Is it okay to say that leftist radical activist might riot against a Mccain win and then not look at the possibility that an Obama win could cause an uprising from the militant right? Jees,if HRC can mention RFK, june, elections and campaigns in the same sentence why can’t I.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. All dejected - again.lol
I posted earlier to your husband. I am so happy that the bypass has really worked for you. Keep up the good work!
Hiya there. I’m still kinda takin’ it easy. See mine at 39.
Oh really?Funny, you didnt mention his position on amnesty for all the illegals who have invaded our country. So I guess that is ok with you huh?
Exactly the kind of nit wittery that will come from the hard left. Thanks for joining Operation Hiatus!
Trapped- I agree, he should actually appoint a conservative to take his position.
Now that works for me.
What say you?
In order for Obama to move to the center he will need to step over McCain’s body holding firmly at the left of center position.
As another Freeper said:
“Ask the GOP’s presumptive nominee for President, Fred Thompson, if this is a good strategy?”
Fred is still a mystery to me. Was he ever anything but a stalking horse for McCain? He certainly diluted the conservative cause. The other liberal (Rudy) drops out; then we have conservatives circling the wagons to shoot each other. Leaving the other lib with the nomination.
I did not and still do not understand it.
If he does this, his numbers will go up significantly. The only thing left in his quiver is the Constitution arrow. If he uses it, Obalmer is history. From the borders, to Iraq, to the second ammendment his opponent has no shield to defend his un-American positions (activities).
At $5 per gallon gas through the summer, we may not make it to the convention before all H3ll breaks loose. The change that Opalmer is suggesting may not even get a chance to materialize as people will already be making BIG changes in their lives.
The last thing they'll want is a big-spending liberal for president when what they'll desire is a guy who'll poke holes in the ground and build nuke plants. Prediction: by the end of August you'll find few touting renewable energy and more than a few greenies with propellars sticking out their rears.
Would give the Obama folks and their friends in the media free reign.
I think that is the point!
McCain can't win anyone's love, but he can win their fear - of Obama. That is the key to a McCain victory, and that is why he and the RNC need to attack, attack, attack.
The GOP saddled him. They can ride him to oblivion.
Obama has a Teflon coating, for now. Nothing will stick.
McCain is a weak orator, laying aside his policies and positions. Why waste energy and money tilting at a windmill?
Let the Obabamaboil fill with toxic pus until it ruptures of its own accord.
The conservative movement needs to recharge its intellectual batteries. They have to show the American public there is a solid set of beliefs behind it: free markets and free people, with as limited a role for government as possible. In this 24/7 news world, that's hard to do.
However, to keep Senator Obama out of the White House, McCain must win. He will be a one-term President if he wins, and he can buy us breathing time to renew the conservative movement. Don't sit out the race. Don't snipe at McCain for trivial reasons. Don't give the American public a reason to pull the lever for the donkey.
Sometimes you go out to fight with the odds against you. President Bush had mostly good ideas, but something in his personality and the people he picked alienated the American public so much they're going to choose an inexperienced smooth talker whose naive policies will lead to four bad years.
We need to regenerate the conservative movement. Free markets and free people and limited government!
I’m sorry, and amazed, that so many freepers still refuse to see that Gingrich, McCain, and Thompson are a tag team.
I am sorry because if people continue to refuse to see it, we will keep on getting burned, year after year, election after election.
Thompson got in to diffuse the conservative vote in order clear the path for McCain.
Why put off for tomorrow what you can do today. ;)
That might not be a Bad Thing. The only time he'll have their attention is when they are attacking him. Pointing out how old he is, how his (supposed) quick temper makes him unsuitable to have his finger on the nuclear trigger , how his health is bad, how he bad he looks compared to young, vibrant (and dumb) Obama, how incompetent he is, having lost five US aircraft making him a reverse ace. They might even mention how rotten he is, divorcing his wife who waited for him all those years during that Imperialist Aggression in Southeast Asia, taking up with a rich, inherited money, capitalist (and a beer baroness yet).
Oh, yeah, being out of their sights would not be a bad thing at all.
Meanwhile Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Levin, and many others can do the work he should be, but won't be, doing, pointing out how much worse Obama is.
