Muslim gang attacks gay catwalk model (dragged off catwalk and beaten)

Gay people in Holland have been shocked by a public attack on a gay man in Amsterdam.

Model Mike Du Pree was taking part in a fashion show to promote tolerance towards gay people when a gang of ten Muslim youths dragged him from the catwalk and beat him.

A right wing Dutch MP has called for the youths to be deported.

Mr Du Pree's nose was broken in the attack, which was motivated by homophobia.

The fashion event was held on a public holiday marking the birth of Holland's late Queen Julianna.

Newspaper Gay Krant reports that a bystander intervened as the model was being beaten and a fight erupted.

Fashion show organiser Jennifer Delano told the paper that the atmosphere at the event was tense, and that the violence shows Amsterdam is no longer a tolerant city.

"Mike got dragged down by his arm," she said.

"They pinched him, he defended himself and then the guys of immigrant background started to hit him."

Police arrived on the scene but it is unclear whether the ten homophobic Muslim youths were arrested or charged.

MPs have raised the incident in Parliament.

"This shows how strong the Islamic gay bashers feel they are," said Party of Freedom MP Martin Bosma.

"Even at daylight, on Queen’s Day, in the heart of Amsterdam, they strike.

"Only the hardest measures could turn this sick trend.

"The Dutch nationality of the gay bashers of Rembrandt Square should immediately be taken from them and they should be expelled from the country today.

"The Netherlands can show no mercy for these people who damage our society in this way. Either they will win, or we will win."

In December the mayor of Amsterdam commissioned academics to study a spate of attacks on gay people in the city.

A substantial increase in homophobic attacks in the capital has been reported over the last few years.

More than half of Dutch gays feel less safe than they did a year ago, a survey carried out in August by current affairs programme EenVandaag revealed.

Sixty-four per cent of anti-gay incidents were verbal but 12 per cent resulted in physical abuse.

Amsterdam's image in the Netherlands as the 'gay capital of the world' is also under threat as the survey revealed gays there were more fearful than in other parts of country.

Of the 23,000 people questioned, including 1,980 gays and lesbians, 61 per cent still maintained the Netherlands is a gay-friendly country.

The government of Holland has committed itself to the active promotion of acceptance of LGBT people in the light of several high-profile homophobic attacks in the country.

In a memorandum on the 2008 Budget, the coalition government's Cabinet said that respect for difference is a basic condition of Dutch society.

They committed millions of euros to fight homophobia and promote acceptance.

The University of Amsterdam has been commissioned by the city's mayor to carry out the research into homophobic attacks.

[alecqss] Since gays support islamic fanatics, I think this event featured mutual satisfaction.

[libs-kma] Yet gays here will say US soldiers are the savages.

Not every gay thinks that way. I know several who deeply despise anything Islamic and they don't hide their feelings on the subject.

Quite a dilemma for leftist, “diverse” nation. Does it continue to allow homosexuals to flaunt their sexuality at the expense of angering Muslims that want to have no tolerance for such actions?

In a brawl between sodomites and islamic’s, who do you root for? Unfortunately, someone will probably win.

That's a no brainer- I'll root for the gays.

If the gays win, about the worst thing I can expect is that one of them will make a pass at me. Or celebrate with a parade wearing glitter and leather chaps.

An islamo-nazi, however, is likely to celebrate his win by blowing up everyone in the vicinity. Or by putting a knife in my throat for violating one of the other 10,000 idiotic moral restrictions those people are so fired-up about.

I did not intent to say that all gays support islamists. I’m sorry it came out that way... I say that there are lots of gay activists who hate everyone else so much that they choose to support their own worst enemy.

On that we agree. I can't believe some people are so short sighted.

I see regularly gay activists in demos loudly supporting islamists. A couple of times I tried to explain that gays would be impaled once found in any islamic society in the open. To no avail.

That's hard to believe gays would be that dumb but of course I take your word for it. I've had similar conversations with liberals. I'll mention that the Islamic fascists hate gays and women, and they'll reply that our "Christian Dominionists" do as well. (A Dominionist of course is someone who believes in a Biblical theocracy; liberals think this describes all conservative Christians.) I'll mention that Iran (which is the usual focus of the conversation) executes gays, and they'll reply that gays get killed in the US. The notion seems to be lost on them that in one case it's the state performing judicial murder, and in the other, it's individuals breaking the law. Or they'll claim that the Christians want to kill the gays here but don't have power yet. It's like arguing with someone in an cult.

There are a few gays that get it. I did a double-take a couple of years ago when I saw the book While Europe Slept, by Bruce Bawer. He is a gay liberal whose earlier book Stealing Jesus claimed that fundamentalists were wrong on the Bible and gays. In his new book, he describes how serious the danger is from Islamic fascism in Europe. Apparently he and his lover moved over there, expecting a liberal paradise, and found something entirely different.

"The Netherlands can show no mercy for these people who damage our society in this way. Either they will win, or we will win."

How ironic he is referring to the Muslims in defense of the pro-homosexual "society", but he doesn't think the promotion of homosexual behavior damages society.

I don't think the Muslims had the right to beat this guy up, but pardon me for having no support for either groups agenda.
