McCain ad addresses Hispanics
LV Review-Journal ^ | June 6, 2008

Posted on 06/06/2008 4:31:30 PM PDT by Shermy

In a sign that the Hispanic vote in the West could hold the key to the November election, Republican presumptive nominee John McCain launched his first local campaign ad, a Spanish-language radio spot, in Nevada this week.

The 60-second commercial touts McCain, a senator from Arizona, as a nonpartisan problem-solver on the economy.

"When we are buying groceries, we don't have a political party," the ad states, according to a translation provided by the campaign. "When we are filling up the gas tank, we are not Republicans, Democrats or independents. We are Hispanics, and we are all hurting together in this uncertain economic time."

The ad began airing Tuesday on Spanish-language radio stations throughout Nevada. It is airing also in New Mexico. The campaign would not give details Wednesday on how long the spot will continue to air.

Nevada and New Mexico are seen as key battlegrounds for the presidency, and both have large populations of Hispanic voters.

McCain was once a champion of comprehensive immigration reform, including allowing illegal immigrants eventually to gain citizenship, but has backtracked on the issue under fire from the right.

McCain's expected rival, Sen. Barack Obama, also could face problems attracting Hispanic voters, who voted overwhelmingly for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination.

McCain and Obama both campaigned in New Mexico and Nevada last week as they began laying the groundwork for the general election.

The new Spanish ad "goes to two points," McCain campaign spokesman Jeff Sadosky said. "One, we feel John McCain is the type of Republican who can do very well among Hispanic voters. Two, the message of the ad ties in with a theme you will see throughout John McCain's presidential campaign: He is a candidate who throughout his career has not just given lip service to the idea of bipartisanship but has brought results."

Sadosky said a Web ad released by the campaign for Veterans Day highlighted the "disproportionate" role of Hispanics in military service.

"By talking about economic issues, talking about the issues of service and patriotism, he's (McCain is) going to continue reaching out to Hispanics on a number of issues," he said.

“By talking about economic issues, talking about the issues of service and patriotism, he’s (McCain is) going to continue reaching out to Hispanics on a number of issues,” he said.”

Translation: Hispanic citizens, incl. Spanish speakers, are concerned about the economy and are patriotic. They also don’t want amnesty!

This is typical of McCain. Tells the white race-obsessed liberals Hispanics support amnesty, therefore, you will be labelled racist if you don’t too. Then tells in Spanish nothing about immigration, all about the economy and leadership.

Try doing it in English Juan! You're only encouraging them not to assimilate to American culture.

Bipartisanship would pay for your groceries?

They ought to start talking HOW?

How they can make a difference, and how Obama’s socialist agenda would only make the problems worse.

MUST ATTACK OBAMA ON SOCIALIST SOLUTIONS.

Talk about how they have failed every nation that has tried them. Talk about how Obama is passing himself off as second coming of JFK, and yet JFK was PRO-GROWTH Democrat. He CUT taxes.

We can’t spend our way out of this.

McCAIN OUGHT TO START TYING OBAMA WITH PRESIDENT BUSH:

Say Bush and Obama’s wasteful spending got us in this mess in first place and I would win cut out the waste, adopt pro-growth agenda and not pro-tax-and-spend agenda, WIN THE WAR and get us out of this mess.

Say No to Bush-Obama policies.

Could you provide a link to your claim. I don't recall ever hearing McCain say such a thing.

No mention of the word "American" either!

I am wondering what he will say at the La Raza Annual Convention in July during his scheduled speech there. I bet you his story will be a little “different.”

After McCain gives illegal aliens the vote we can say hello to our Democrat run future. The electoral votes in the southwest will not belong to Republicans.

2000 Election
Bush: Electoral Votes: 271
Gore: Electoral Votes: 266

Given La Raza is the Hispanic overclass, he’ll tell them in not so many words, “Yes, I will get you even cheaper nannies for your little Madisons and Ethans.”

Last I heard, McQueeg is getting about 29% approval among “hispanics” which is 4% less than Bush got in 2004.

“Sadosky said a Web ad released by the campaign for Veterans Day highlighted the “disproportionate” role of Hispanics in military service. “

Perhaps there has been an increase in the last couple of years. But John’s favorite non profits say that isn’t so.

The hispandering is getting thick. If they can march in our streets by the millions, they can march in the military. Fine with me.

There is a disproportion of POOR kids in the military of all races. That’s the way it has always been. Hispanics are on the low end of the economic/education percentages.

Pew - Latino enlisted personnel are underrepresented when compared to the size of the civilian labor force of the appropriate age. They are on par when compared to civilian labor force of the appropriate age that possess the necessary educational credentials. And, they are overrepresented when compared to the civilian labor force of the appropriate age that posses both the necessary educational credentials and immigration status.
&

This report published by the National Council of La Raza, investigated the significant underrepresentation of Latinos in the armed forces and notes that those Latinos who are currently in the military “are disproportionately concentrated in the lowest pay grades, with the lowest level of responsibilities and fewest opportunities.”

Reminds me of Karl Rove.

The second time he tried to get Comprehensive Immigration Reform passed he claimed, publicly claimed, to journalists, who lapped it up, and Republicans, that “exit polls” said the reason for shifted votes to the Dems was “Hispanics” for CIF. This was a lie.

The bill failed, again. Later, when Republicans complained it was Bush at fault, Rove said the “exit polls” showed it was corruption that was the cause, therefore, Congress itself. This was true. Exit polls did say corruption, though it was near tied for #1 with the economy. There was zilch, nada people who voted for Dems for Amnesty.

Check this out. The Military has a program to actively recruit ‘hispanics’. Here the Latinos were complaining because they didn’t have enough representation in the military!

Negrete runs the Army program that aims to attract more Hispanics to serve. “The Army has an underrepresented Hispanic population,” he noted. “When I started this program about 15 months ago, we were about 8 percent. We’re about 10 percent now. We’ve made a significant improvement (by) going after Hispanics in a manner we’ve never done before. We’re giving our recruiters goals to meet in order to bring the Hispanic population of the Army to par with the general population of the country.”

The Army’s plan seems to be working well and calls for achieving parity by 2006, Negrete said. “This year our goal was 12 percent and we hit 13 percent. Next year, our goal was 13 percent — I just raised it to 14 percent.”

http://www.defenselink.mil/specials/hispanic02/general.html

Aren’t they about 14% of the population? How are they over represented?

McCain makes voting for him more difficult every day. But then he doesn’t need or want us, does he?

And all this time I thought the shamnesty push was all about money.

It took ol’ Juan to show me it’s about money and power. His ego trip Presidency and the RNC’s business contributors.

At the expense of us. And our country.

“But then he doesn’t need or want us, does he?”

It’s been clear for some time he doesn’t. He thinks he’ll get more votes from Hispanics than he could ever hope to get from Conservatives (including Hispanic Conservatives).

What if the ad spoke to the fact that “Hispanics” share many values with conservatives? Anti abortion, hard work and family values. Hispanics living in Texas and California have different values. They came from different parts of Mexico. What if the ad respected conservative values and wanted to recruit new members to the cause?

McCain’s lobbyist purge: All the foreign agents but one?

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 19, 2008 01:32 PM

1nowall.jpg

Five McCain campaign staffers and volunteers have now been shown the door over their lobbying activities and/or status as foreign agents. WaPo reports on the latest:

Tom Loeffler, the national finance co-chairman for Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, resigned yesterday because of his lobbying ties, a campaign adviser said.
This Story

He is the fifth person to sever ties with the campaign amid a growing concern over whether lobbyists have too great an influence over the Republican nominee. Last week, campaign manager Rick Davis issued a new policy that requires all campaign personnel to either resign or sever ties with lobbying firms or outside political groups.

“The campaign over the last week or so obviously had a perception problem with regards with this whole business of lobbyists and their work,” spokesman Brian Rogers said. “This is really all about setting a policy so that we can just get through that perception problem and the issues that come up with regards to lobbyists affiliated with the campaign and move on.”

A left-wing outfit has a few more top McCain aides on its hit list.

But not a word from either the MSM or the lefties about McCain Hispanic outreach advisor Juan Hernandez, the former Mexican cabinet official who lobbied aggressively for illegal alien rights and benefits in the US on behalf of a foreign government. He still serves as a fellow at the conflict-of-interest-clouded Reform Institute funded with money from George Soros while continuing to advance Mexico’s open-borders agenda and drumming up campaign cash for McCain, most recently, as I reported earlier this month, for Cinco de Mayo.

So: What about Juan?

McCain was once is still a champion of comprehensive immigration reform amnesty for illegal aliens, including allowing illegal immigrants eventually to gain citizenship, but has backtracked on the issue pretends to oppose it under fire from the right.

There. That's better. It's much closer to the truth.
