Dems to push Obama's goals with bills in Congress

WASHINGTON, (AP) -- Between now and Election Day, Democrats say they will use Congress to showcase the kinds of change promised by their presidential candidate, Barack Obama.

Some legislation they'll choose have good prospects of passage — policy blueprints for higher education and the military; a ban on lead in toys — and skip over debates on spending plans and some taxes until a new president takes office.

Other bills they'll debate are doomed. But on those, the point isn't passage this year. It's about making the case that the Democrats' plan for children's health care, for example, won't become law without one of their own in the White House.

Whatever legislation Democrats offer, it will have been vetted for the benefit of the Obama campaign as is traditional between the congressional majority and its presidential candidate.

"Now that the primaries have come to a close, we relish the opportunity to compare agendas," said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., the Senate Democrats' chief fundraiser. "It's going to sharpen the focus in the Congress and the Senate. It's going to sharpen the focus in the presidential race."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, too, indicated that the House agenda would be synchronized with Obama's in the run-up to drafting a party platform.

She told reporters this week that the document would reflect the Democrats' focus on heath care, global warming, national security and the economy.

At least one of the parties in Congress has an agenda.

Oooooo that "ban on lead in toys" is a real presidential go getter! These people are a joke. What next? Requirements for milkmen to wear bow ties?

"Dems to push Obama's goals with bills in Congress..."

If they are going to push his REAL goals, it should insure his defeat in November when voters see just how much his Marxist agenda will cost. Maybe Hillary is behind it to make sure he loses and removed from the political stage to leave her unopposed for 2012.

Oh goody! Now they will make it easy for me to point out what they are doing wrong and it won’t take 3 days to find examples!

The Lieberman-Warner bill was a disaster. In the middle of a huge spike in gasoline prices, the Dems were proposing huge increases on energy prices, including gasoline.

I keep hearing that Dems. are expected to gain seats in Congress in the November elections. A President Obama and Democrats in Congress are going to have their way.

The only hope will be if Republicans still have at least 41 Senators to filibuster, and enough Blue Dog Democrats to side with Republicans in the House.

If Dems. are destined to gain in Congress, let’s hope that McCain will be elected to provide some gridlock.

Gridlock in government is good if it prevents bad legislation. I’m thinking these Dems. will be like a kid in a candy store if they have President Obama and a Democrat Congress.

Maybe they will put the Gay rights marriage bill thru the Congress and the senate. That way it will really be a very exciting election season.

If Osama Obama wins, the amount of tax dollars spent in the first 100 days will stagger the even Homer Simpson’s bright mind. The amount of personal liberties lost will stagger the little butt head Bart Simpson’s mind. The first 100 days of his administration will make the Soviet 1917 revolution look like a Saturday afternoon stroll in the park. I simply cannot believe that this is the type of world that Americans want for themselves. It staggers my mind to even think of what is going to happen to this country. Simple folks, you’d better be armed, because that is the ONLY way we will ever get the Republic back, armed revolution. They will pass as many laws as they can as fast as they can to over turn any law that will take power from them. They will move quickly with laws to cement their power and keep it. They are probably already having them written up and ready for Osama’s signature on January 20th. It is going to be the largest loss of personal freedom in world history. If you think not, okay. Live in that dream world.
