Hillary Clinton is an Ivy League lawyer surrounded by Ivy League lawyers. Anyone who saw her advisor Harold Ickes in action at the DNC Rules Committee over the weekend knows that these are folks who can and will parse every jot and tittle. When they write a letter, particularly a very momentous one, it should be taken at anything but face value.
So when, as a loyal member of Hillary's email list, a message [full text here] turned up from her this morning, I was eager to read between the lines. On the one hand, Clinton did say that at an event on Saturday she would "extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy."
She added: "I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise."
We'll analyze those two lines, but let's begin by noting what Hillary did not say:
* I lost. * I'm withdrawing from the race and asking my delegates to support Obama. * He won. * He IS the nominee [or even the presumptive nominee] of the Dem party.

Not goin’ gracefully ping to Today show list.
The media is trying to pull her off the stage but don’t count her out until she makes a formal public announcement.
Hey, and quit driving your pickup so fast. Keep it to 45, max. For that matter, quick driving a pickup ;-)
My husband is a rancher, let’s see him try to take his p/u away from him. Not gonna happen.
Will Obama pay off my debt? I don't think so.
Really, said Mr. Obama. And Michelle would be???
Yeh, Hillary as VP = Cat fight.
Of course. We know the Beast, though the Dems are just getting their eyes open. She has three months to barge through the door that may open; Obama might make a major stumble; he might have a stroll in Ft. Marcy Park; he might take up flying in fog. She also has another 2 months before the election. In all about 150 days, any one of which might prove fatal to Obama’s candidacy.
She’d be a fool to release her delegates.
Here’s a funny one- Hillary supporters for John McCain! In what alternate universe did we ever think we’d see THIS?!
He's only the presumptive nominee till the official votes are counted at the convention.
I wonder how long it will take those from the women’s movement to refer to her as “Just another Clinton who let us down”?
There is also some chance that before Obama names his running mate, he makes a gaffe that cripples him within the party. Then, Hillary’s delegates might be needed to get him nominated at the convention. She can hold them over his head and require the #2 spot.
And if she gets that, and they win, she has four whole years to bump him off.
Nasty!!
What if....Hillary is a VP and is treated like the Clintons treated Algore?
What if....Bill is lurking in the shadows and grabs press coverage with the purple rage and crooked finger at every turn?
Better to have McCain, unless you enjoy more Clinton Bath Tub Ring.
If B Hussein Obama takes Hillary Clinton as his veep, he better hire a food taster!
I have a strange concern? Why has Al Gore disappeared? What’s going on behind the scenes that we don’t know?
Question: IF Hillary is the Vice President and she’s with Bubba at a formal event, would the introduction be: “The President and Vice President of the United States”?
My understanding is former presidents retain the title for life.
