Parents in an area near Houston say they are waiting for now to see what a school board will do before taking any other action regarding a public school principal's decision to sponsor a mandatory class for students held by representatives a the Council on American Islamic Relations, an organization that has been linked through its employees to terror allegations.
"Every parent and community member who has communicated with us has been deeply concerned about this action and has expressed that changes must be made," said a statement from Pastor Dave Welch, a spokesman for the Houston Area Pastor Council, an inter-racial, inter-denominational organization that has been monitoring the situation closely.
He said it appears likely there will be action by the district that includes Friendswood Junior High, where last week students were required to attend sessions led by two women wearing veils and representing CAIR's Houston chapter.
"Houston Area Pastor Council and several of our key pastors in the Friendswood community have communicated with parents, school board members as well as Supt. Trish Hanks and are confident that school officials are very committed to taking appropriate disciplinary action for the violation of school policies, state law and the trust of parents and students," the statement said. "Friendswood has deep roots in the Christian faith and is still a close knit community of people who have strong beliefs in the core Judeo-Christian values that built the city, state and nation.
"We are committed to staying closely involved, waiting for the school district's announcement this week and working with the district, the parents and the pastors to define and protect appropriate religious expression and activities for the future," he said.

Educators are presumed innocent, and whatever they do, it’s considered an honest mistake or at worst, insufficient grounds for dismissal.
A child who takes a spent shell to school, even a memento given to him by a vet...a child who hugs his classmate...a child who cuts her food with a knife...a child who draws a sketch of a noose...GUILTY, and suspended, and their records forever stained.
Down on the Animal Farm some are more equal than others. Oink!
The way to fight this is to put these people out of work. Permanently! SHUT THESE GOVERNMENT SCHOOL INDOCTRINATION CAMPS DOWN!!!! ( Yes, I am shouting.)
Take your own kids out, and help rescue your neighbor's child. Form organizations that will help fund independent mini-schools, one room school houses, dame schools, homeschool cooperatives, virtual schools, and tutoring centers. Don't leave any child behind to rot in a government school indoctrination center.
Oh...I wonder how many Christian teachers in that school completely and totally cooperated with this Muslim indoctrination? Real brave Christians there. ( eye roll!) These Christian teachers have just taught all their students that Christians are wimps and stupid. Who in their right mind would want a religion filled with stupid and wimpy people?
Forget churches coming to the rescue. They have too many government employees in their pews. No rational minister will bite the hand that puts money in the collection plate.
If Christians are going to fight back in an effect way, they will need to do this on their own, without expecting help of their churches. Shut the government schools down! Put every government school enabler out of a job!
>>...parents said the principal in Texas who arranged for an Islamic instruction presentation apparently did so after being told not to.<<
This is why the principal, Robin Lowe, needs to be fired.
More old news from WND. Lowe has resigned.

I am glad to hear this.
“When are Christians going to stand up and stop being timid?”
Why just Christians?
Why just Christians?

Good point! All people of good will.
Why don’t we fire the principal instead? It would be cheaper, and poor kids could still learn math.
It is not enough. It is like a multi-headed hydra. If you chop off one head, another of the same ilk will soon take its place.
