Putting Congress in charge of solving our energy problems is like hiring the Hell’s Angels to run security at a rock concert.

With ‘global warming,’ we have entered the age of the ‘big con.’ :)

Things are real only after one has learned to agree on their realness.

What organizations are behind this bill? What special interests will be lobbying for its passage? Lieberman and Warner are just the front men.

That's why I'm not voting for President in November. It doesn't matter who wins. They both want to end the late, great United States Of America because they'll both pursue the same domestic liberal policies in office.

What the layman can easily comprehend, however, is that climate is unpredictable, difficult to accurately model and impossible to control.

Climate models don't do mesoscale, so the Mesoscale convective systems rolling in the OH valley to DC are not modeled. The modelers parameterize instead so they take the temperature, humidity, jet stream and other things they model and guess at the type and extent of thunderstorms. The can guess based on smaller scale models that do model MSCs or they can make real world measurements. But as the climate changes the real world measurements will probably be invalid. Also the effects of the MSCs on those other modeled parameters is crudely handled.

The kicker is that these thunderstorms cause global cooling. Not much and not widespread, but not "averaged out" or balanced in any way by any other weather. There is global cooling going on right now and the climate modelers can only guess at the extent (or just ignore it like the simple physics models do).

The modelers will answer with uncertainty about clouds, etc. resulting in ranges, but that's BS. Uncertainty does not extend in both directions (warming and cooling) equally. The uncertainty is manifested in the incorrect hurricane forecasts (very low total energy last year), the incorrect 30 day climate outlooks (based mostly on persistence), etc.

In short, the author is correct, the public would be well served to totally ignore any models.

First we had global cooling.

Then we had global warming.

Next up will be global stagnation!

So, naturally, proponents refer to the EU cap and trade scheme as a "test run" or a program only in its delicate "infancy." It just wasn't executed properly.

Isn't that how socialists normally think about their failures?
