CBS 2 News has learned that Francis Cardinal George is temporarily removing Father Michael Pfleger from his position as pastor of St. Sabina Roman Catholic Church on Chicago's South Side.
CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports the move comes after several days of deliberation and consultation by the Cardinal, who first learned about Pfleger's racially charged comments about Sen. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton from the pulpit of Trinity Unity Church of Christ last Thursday night.
The Cardinal immediately contacted Pfleger who agreed not to refer to the presidential candidates by name, but as CBS 2 reported at the time, there remained the possibility of some further disciplinary action against Pfleger.
The Cardinal reportedly spoke to Pfleger again this morning.
A spokesman for the archdiocese would neither confirm nor deny action had been taken to remove Pfleger. Another spokesman said she expected to have some announcement later today.
Indications are that another Chicago priest would take over at St. Sabina, while plans for the permanent reassignment of Father Pfleger, who's been there far longer than is customary in the archdiocese, would be accelerated....

So what? In a couple years he'll be an annual weep-a-thon on Pacifica Radio sandwiched between Sacco & and Vanzetti and the Rosenbergs.
Really? I didn’t realize the Catholic Church took this position with priests. Well, maybe there’s a nice parish in Uzbekistan, or Siberia, or somewhere near the Arctic Circle...
This tool has too massive an ego to just leave. I think hell quit the Catholic church so he can stay around Trinity in some capacity.
Maybe join Code Pink?
“Parish priest who misbehave and flout the bishop can be sent to all sorts of remote places where they cannot agitate.”
Good send him to the Arctic Circle.
But how can they inflict this scumbag on another parish? No one should have this clown imposed upon them as a spiritual leader and guide in their community. If they cannot de-frock him for some reason then exile him to live in the basement of the most remote monastery in existence while he contemplates his life and spiritual disorder.
He’ll make a lot of money writing and being a TV commentator, a la Fr. Greeley.

Bless his little race baiting heart.
Or maybe Vanilla Ice?
“Im sure the Church can find a nice parish for him in Outer Mongolia.”
That should make Pfleger happy. He says that America is the greatest sin against God.
“The Catholic Churchs position is that once a priest is ordained he is a priest for life. Very rarely will a priest be de-frocked, and in fact I cant remember a recent instance.”
I remembered that this particular one was defrocked and later murdered in prison.

It’s a good first step. :)
I’ll be happy if the man is gone.
Finally?
The “Reverend” Pfleger believes that America represents the ultimate sin against God. Apparently, he’s somehow conveniently forgotten that sinning against the Holy Spirit is the worst offense.
I’m reminded of when Pope John Paul II visited Nicaragua in the mid-80’s and publicly reprimanded a Marxist Liberation-theology priest right on the tarmac there — Pfleger’s dresing-down should be no less severe for his own black-liberation views.
If he loathes America so much, perhaps the Cardinal can relocate Fr. Pfleger to a far better place where such evils don’t exist and the people live in pristine perfection, such as one of those untouched native tribes in the Amazon...
It is a high honor to be hated for doing something RIGHT. The Cardinal should be proud to be blamed, as should the Pope. And the little victim can have his whine.
