“I’m rooted in the Christian tradition,” said Obama, who has declared himself a Christian. But then he adds something that most Christians will see as universalism: “I believe there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people.”

Not if it’s true.

Of course, there’s only one way to find out. :)

I have heard him say that he has “problems” with certain Christian tenets. I would really like to know what they are.

The entire point of having a religion is to believe that this particular faith is the correct one. Otherwise it is just a generic idea of existence of higher power whatever it is... Or no belief at all posing as faith.

If any faith is the same - why Obama calls himself Christian? For convenience?

#38 - Keep sayin that - over and over. Hagee’s not a bigot, he has doctrinal differences. Don’t let it be forgotten.

And to think, some would dare accuse Obama of speaking only in empty but saccharine platitudes!

Exactly what does he believe outside of the relativistic "all paths to God" jabberwocky and racially-themed social gospel?

Wow, Muslims, Wiccans, New Agers, Covens, Scientology, Raeliens, and even Druids have a path to the same place, how cool is that? .... Guess Where?

You left out the Freemasons in your list. Masonry is classic universalism.

And that post while pithy and typical of your ever insulting tone HP, had nothing to do with what you originally posted and I then replied to.

if you are having trouble following maybe JR and John can rig up a beginners edition for you.

I agree. I heard him on the radio the other day where he talks about “national salvation”. Of course the christian believes that an individual is saved or not saved. In other words I can’t say I’m going to heaven just because my mom is there.

I heard his Rev. Wright cite John 10:16 to back up this statement. (I'm sure that's where Obama got it). I don't how the Rev. is connecting those dots though, because that entire passage (the “good shepherd” sermon) is saying just the opposite. This was when I realized the Rev. doesn't even know or preach the Gospel.

YOU should have posted an “internal Barf Alert” at the beginning of the icky statement about “tucking his daughter in is a little bit of Heaven.” That was a rather calculated attempt at conveying the softer, Oprah , side of Obama.
