A model wears a three-piece suit designed by Yves Saint Laurent. France, 1967.
He reworked the rules of fashion by putting women into elegant pantsuits that came to define how modern women dressed. By putting a woman in a mans tuxedo, he changed fashion forever, in a style that was never dated. Chanel gave liberation of the body to women, said Pierre Berge, Laurents longtime business partner, and Saint Laurent gave power to women with the mens clothes.

You mean that women can actually start dressing like women again?
The influence of homosexuals on the fashion industry has indeed been pervasive. There is a reason why so many top female models look like 12-year-old boys. YSL had a lot to do with the beginning of that era (there were others, of course) — but that era won’t end any time soon.
YSL has created many beautiful dresses, never mind the suits, but personally I love his perfumes. YSL, Dior and Guerlain are the best.
He sure seemed to be hot and heavy for Lili Von Schtupp.
(this is addressed to the author of the article, not you Mister Ghost :D) — Oh for Petes Sake, Fashion Times Magazine, YSL was NOT the first one to think of putting women in men’s clothing...just like the Boomer Left wasnt the first generation to discover sex. Any of you clueless retards at that magazine ever hear of the Gibson Girl?!?
Since when has clothes ever given anyone one ounce of intelligence or integrity?
This is the hype and psychobabble that I despise!
Really who wasn’t?
A Yves St. Laurent thread on Free Republic. Who would have thunk it?
One of the funniest women I ever saw, period.

I still have a camel hair jacket designed by him in excellent condition. It has the St. Laurent lining with the name printed over and over.
I wonder if it is now a collectible?
“ince when has clothes ever given anyone one ounce of intelligence or integrity?”
Probably never. But walking into a lions’ den wearing a perfectly fitted and fashioned designer like St. Laurent is armor for women.
I wore an ice blue St. Laurent gown with a tiny little jacket to a nerve-wracking event and felt fantastic.
As I said, it’s armor for women.
I'll believe that when I see it!
