Let's see now - those graduating would have been about 14 years old on 9/11. Above the "age of reason" and certainly they would have memories and an understanding of 9/11.

Obviously the MSM has done a good job of blurring the memory of that day for SOME of them.

IMHO - Those supporting or judging "W" would do well to reflect DEEPLY on how the world, this nation, and they themselves "felt", "feared" "expected" events to unfold from 9/11 on, and compare it to today's reality.

Controversy over Furman University’s commencement invitation to President Bush dissolved into an outpouring of civility and warmth Saturday night at Paladin Stadium.

. . . With the exception of a silent protest by a scattering of graduates and faculty, Bush was a hit with the crowd.

When the flashing blue lights of the lead vehicles in Bush’s motorcade came into view at 7:10 p.m., most of the more than 9,000 guests erupted into foot-stomping, cheers and applause.

Bush’s entrance to the stadium at 7:37 p.m. brought a roar from most of the crowd that filled all but a few of the home side seats. Students joined in, many climbing onto their beige folding chairs, women kicking off their pumps, for a better view or to take pictures.

Agreed. No matter what anybody thinks about him, the graduating class got the President to speak at their commencement. Only a few schools get that in a year. I guess some people never learned the difference between a ceremony and a public forum.
