Climate Bill Underlines Obstacles to Capping Greenhouse Gases

When the Senate takes up landmark climate legislation this week, its backers can be sure of just one thing: The obstacles they face show how hard it will be to enact a meaningful cap on greenhouse gases -- probably under the next administration.
The next administration, not this one, because even supporters of the complex, extensively negotiated 494-page bill say that there is little chance that it will win Senate approval, less chance that the House will agree on a similar measure and perhaps no chance that President Bush would sign it if it reaches his desk.
"In some ways, this is a dress rehearsal for next year, but I still think it will be a useful thing for the Senate and Congress, because at some point we have to deal with it," said Sen. Byron L. Dorgan (D-N.D.), who has yet to decide how he will vote.

But it has run into opposition from some energy titans who say they favor a cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emissions but argue that this version is the wrong one and will cost consumers too much.

"For my congressional colleagues, I would say the president's going to go down this road and the public's ready to be led down this road," Graham said Wednesday, while riding on McCain's campaign plane. "I don't see an alternative to cap-and-trade."

The most significant “greenhouse gas” is WATER VAPOR. There’s absolutely nothing we can do to reduce the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. You might notice the stuff sometimes when you look in the sky and see some fluffy white things. That is the condensed form of water vapor, most powerful of all greenhouse gases.
Even if an anti-greenhouse bill is passed, will China, India and less developed countries abide by it? If the answer is “no” then, what the hell, are we doing?
Our Congress is not incompetent, our Congress is anti-American.
That's why they made you a Senator. We survived without having cap-and-trade taxes and regulations very well so far, doing nothing at all - how is that for an alternative!
There was also "no alternative" to sham "immigration" bill and "public was ready to be led down that road", we were told not long ago...
Since we know that AGW is a phony issue, and we know they (Senators and House Representatives) know it darn well as well, the the only reasons for them to insist on it and propose these phony "solutions" are greed and lust for more power and control. Greedy, loathsome bastards!
Instead, they're pushing NEW taxation with the "climate change" hoax.
BTW - it's a balmy 45 degrees where I'm at right now, and the lilacs are 3 weeks behind schedule.
It's the purpose of the government to collect money and power.
The Founders understood the terrible nature of the beast that they were attempting to tame.
I bet Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) will be a one termer. He’s a disaster.
