Not worth even 3/5 of a vote! (Vanity)
Self | 5/31/08 | Self

I've been watching with great amusement the rules committee today on CNN.

Their vote awarding 1/2 a vote to the Michigan and Florida delegates is remarkable and unbelievable.

Think about it. The Democrats have said that their delegates (and hence, their voters) are not even worth the 3/5 vote the Constitution originally gave blacks!

Before today’s decision, Clinton had 1499 pledged delegates (i.e. those delegates selected by primary or caucus).

Obama had 1661 pledged delegates.

So even without the superdelegates, Obama was leading with around 160 pledged delegates.

After the decision today, Clinton picks up an additional 87 delegates and Obama picks up an additional 63 delegates.

This means that Obama still leads Clinton in pledged delegates by 1724 delegates to 1586 delegates. A margin of 138 delegates.

The final three contests in the Democratic Primaries has a grand total of 86 delegates.

Hillary cannot win the most pledged delegates.

When you add in the Superdelegates that have already committed to a candidate, Obama has 2074 delegates. Above the number needed to clinch the nomination (2026).

Unless there are defections, or some strange occurance happens before the convention (remember, Bobby Kennedy was shot in June), Obama is the nominee for the Democratic party.

But even in her death throes, Clinton keeps bleeding her party for the sake of her own ego.

May I suggest something to post around:

Last time it was at least three-fifths
Under DNC rules, these Michigan voters will only be given HALF of a vote each.

IS THIS ANY WAY TO RUN A
DEMOCRACY?

The American National Socialist Party doesn't have 'constituents'. They have cottagers and villeins who are duped into thinking they're freemen. And for as long as they exist, there shall be no village for lack of an idiot.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly never want to hear about the 2000 election again after this crap.

I guess its OK when the Dems disenfranchise the voters. And in the ultimate irony, Florida is involved. If I were the Republicans, I’d have an ad in the works right now.

The Dems are hypocrites of the highest order.

I move that all Democrats be given 1/2 vote to cast! :)

cute, but then they gave Obama 30 delgates when he wasn't even on the ballot! Amazing....it was based on exit polls.

The dems finally get to win based on the exit polls! LOL

This is not new for the demoncrats. They successfully disenfranchise over 50% of our military voters each election cycle by challenging their absentee ballots. They are THE definition of sleaze.

Precisely.

Want to really stick it to ‘em? Make up a poster that sez:
‘They stole the vote in 2000.
They swift boated it again in 2004.
And they’re Howard Deaning it again in 2008!

That's part of what is so funny.

Donna Brazile bleating about "counting every vote" in 2000. And today, she is whining about following the rules.

Aw heck. Nobama doesn’t have to run anyway. He’s the Messiah and he is entitled to the delegates. It’s the Democrat way! Half votes for half assed candidates.

Good point. And, I agree we should embarrass the Party, who in 2,000 in Florida screamed incessantly: “Every vote counts, every vote counts, every vote.......”

I predict the story will ultimately morph into the following:
The RATs came out with the best compromise they could under the circumstances. The REAL problem was that the Florida republican-controlled gubermint deliberately violated the rules of BOTH parties in moving their election too early, KNOWING that it would cause chaos during the nomination cycle. Michigan was simply playing follow the leader. You wait and see.

OK... a little history here. As I understand it the 3/5 compromise was between the South, which wanted slaves to count as citizens in the Census, thus giving the slave states more say in the Electoral College et al, and the North, which wanted them excluded from Census figures, thus weakening the Southern states’ influence and hastening the foregone conclusion that slavery could not continue forever.

This has been distorted into the drivel you read in these posts...SSZ

The way their primaries are set up, if there are two equal candidates vying, votes mean nothing. It’s the super delegates who choose the nominee. How democratic is that? Kerry and Kennedy are aligned with Hussein, even though their state voted for the beast, same for Richardson in NM. What a party, I can’t wait for their convention

Nonetheless, the average ‘Rat voter thinks blacks were given 3/5 of a vote. To rub this in in this way relates to them in a language they already speak.

Exactly.

Remind your liberal friends who decide to believe this that the law to change the primary date in Florida was introduced by a Democrat.

The front loaded primary schedule IIRC was a deliberate move to supposedly annoint Hillary early. Trouble is, this other guy came along ...

First they only give the Michigan and Florida voters 1/2 a vote, and then worse then that they turn around and give Obama votes for a contest he didn't even have his name in.

They said it's a compromise. But it doesn't look like a compromise at all. When you're on the outside looking in it looks like dirty pool. What it looks like, is that they deliberately swayed the process in favor of Obama.

Obama 08

Democrats Biggest Gaffe!
