Of course, Andy Card and Pres. Bush and others must bear responsibility for ever employing a weasel like SM in the first place. All through SM’s tenure in 2003-06 I gagged at the spectacle of such a milquetoast clown proving completely unable to articulate or defend WH policy. The failures to adequately defend and explain admin. policy have been very harmful. The absurd lack of understanding of the real nature of Plamegate continues to appall me.
It was insane to hire McClellan if only because of his left-wing mother and backstabbing wackjob father, who worked for LBJ in 1964 and then later wrote a book accusing LBJ or having JFK killed in some bizarre scheme to increase oil industry profits. When I left government service many years ago, one of my hires was appointed to replace me. I heard from colleagues who had to deal with him how bad he was as a boss and they pointed the finger at me. My answer was, I didn't know what I was getting when I hired him, but those who promoted him did (or should have).
