McClellan: I'm "Intrigued" By Obama
CBS ^ | 5/29/08 | staff

Posted on 05/29/2008 3:33:35 PM PDT by pissant

CBS News anchor Katie Couric interviewed former White House press secretary Scott McClellan about his explosive new book - and the criticism it is stirring. What follows is a partial transcript of the interview.

Couric: Do you support John McCain?

McClellan: I haven't made a decision yet. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Sen. McCain. He is certainly someone who has governed from the center, and that's where I come from; I am pretty much a centrist who believes in working together to solve problems and get things done and putting the country ahead of partisan politics. I also am intrigued by Sen. Obama's message (smiles). It's a message that is very similar to the one Gov. Bush ran on in 2000, and won on, promising to bring bi-partisanship and honesty and integrity to Washington.

Couric: So you could see yourself actually voting for Barack Obama?

McClellan: I just said I haven't made a decision, but I do think, you know, McCain talked about ending the permanent campaign recently, Sen. Obama talks about changing the way Washington works. They better have a specific plan for doing that if they're gonna actually be the president of the United States, because it is difficult to do.

Reacting to the headline alone, it appears as though McClellan wants a job as a talking-head on TV. (And may be disappointed that no one has offered him one).

Is Scott McClellan getting ready to have a David Brock moment?

Equally likely that David Brock is getting ready to have Scott McClellan.

Yes Scott, from between the two butt cheeks. That IS where you come from.

McClellan has yet to discover that no-one will touch him after what he did to 43.

Trust is the coin of the realm, and Scotty has proven he can't be trusted.

He's not the first McClellan to be canned by a POTUS for being an ineffective, spineless POS...

Another Pubbie POTUS to boot.

First someone has to tell me why on Earth my opinion would be influenced by Scott McLellan. His book is basically an announcement that he is a drip who couldn't hack it in Washington, and that he has decided to accept every liberal political position as fact.

Maybe this is why he was such a lousy press secretary.

Never liked that guy. The Bush admn seemed to go down hill after Ari left. McClellan was not up to the task. Bush is loyal to a fault.

McClellan needs a good backhanding for being a snitchy b*tch.

Brit Hume said he was a weak secretary, not in the loop. I say he’s probably jealous of others who were and this is payback time.

It appears that "centrist" McClellan will be pleased no matter which one is POTUS. I'll tell you what "centrist" means. Centrist means one who is willing to support anyone from the extreme communist left all the way to the center. This covers 100% of Democrats and 40% of Republicans.

You see, that political designation does not correspond to having moderate views between the left and the right, and being open to persuasion or having an open mind toward issues - it refers to having a collection of right-wing and left-wing views which do not fit neatly enough into either broad category. A Marxist against gay marriage and abortion? Centrist! And a pro-abortion, pro-gay-marriage, pro gun-control, gorebull-whoring environut who wants universal health-care is a centrist because he wants to nuke Iran! See how it works? Thank the Lord we have other people to do our thinking for us.

Someone mentioned his father wrote a book stating that lBJ killed Kennedy? That could go a long way in giving a guy the idea to write a sensational book.

I vaguely remember hearing about that book. Yes, that could have been a real influence on him. Didn’t know that. Thanks.
