The Captain is going to have to do a couple more tours to pay for this one.

I’ll bet that the captain of *that* particular vessel will have some explaining to do.

The sub is 32 years old. Not sure how much more life it had regardless.

Bummer. I have a White Ensign from that boat (swapped a jack and a commissioning pennant for it).

It looks like the trade-off for repairing damage to the sonar stuff may not be worth the effort.. the estimated life of a nuclear reactor on a ship or sub? I don’t know, it’s maybe 50 years best case... scrap value , not sure, probably not a lot.

Thirty-two years is a LONG time for a steel ship in salt water.

Oh his career is over. Count on that. Not necessarily ... this is the British Navy. They aren't as judgmental as the U.S. Navy ... depends on the circumstances.
