Ive been a fan of Dunkin Donuts for years. Their Munchkins are heaven. Their coffee is better and cheaper than Starbucks. And the companys management has taken a brave and lonely stand in support of immigration enforcement refusing to hire illegal aliens and blowing the whistle on applicants with bogus Social Security numbers.
So it was with some dismay that I learned last week that Dunkin Donuts spokeswoman Rachael Ray, the ubiquitous TV hostess, posed for one of the companys ads in what appeared to be a black-and-white keffiyeh.
The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad. Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant (and not so ignorant) fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons.

My evidence it is a Tallit? I have just as much as those who claim it is a keffiyeh- none.
As you say....It's just a scarf. (a little ugly) but it's just a scarf!
Hmm. I agree with most people here, it just looks like an ugly scarf to me. But then, I am not very knowledgeable about Arab symbols. Is there a reason to suspect Rachel Ray might be sending out secret signals to people? I mean, does she have a history of left-wing or pro-Muslim antics? I don’t know, I usually like Michelle Malkin and I don’t feel like she would lead a witch hunt against someone for no reason. I tried looking Rachel Ray up on google but didn’t find anything about Palestinians or anything like that.
Here it is:
Yup, just a scarf. Now, if she were wearing it like this, it might be a problem:
And here are a couple of real examples:
PS. mnehrling, Talit are not checkered. Find a non-laughable argument if you are trying to be snarky.
shemagh’s are keffiyeh’s. However, our troops wearing them do so for tactical purposes. It’s called camouflage. That is entirely different than the Arabization-Islamic fetish of the left and media.
” turkey looks pretty good too.”
You must have been looking at the breast !!!!
Never trust a cook with flits.
I was being sarcastic. It’s just a scarf. I don’t need a lecture on what a shemagh is or their uses Mr. Lawrence.
The only problem I see with the scarf is that it does not go well with the shirt she is wearing.....
and where some see Arabs everywhere, others see plenty other clothing items from differnt countries / culture / people with very similar designs.
checkered or linked patterns and tassels are not exactly uniquely Arabic.

Matt Lauer was rumored to have one.

Keffiyehs can be all sorts of styles, patterns, and colors. Frequently no color, though the pro-palestinian scarf versions are usually black or red with the houndstooth pattern. Her's looks like a lousy digital photo of houndstooth to me, but it could be floral. Obviously there's no way of knowing what or why Ray is wearing, these things haven't been stylish for a couple years. I can see them not using the ad and shooting another, I don't think anything should happen to her.
Here's Meghan McCain in one.

Not a Tallit, theyre not worn or marketed as fashion. A boycott would be silly, DD acted, and I agree that Rachel Ray probably was clueless as to the nature of the scarf, as was McCains daughter when she wore one upthread. But I agree with Ezekiel, the ad agency certainly knew, or should have. These things are marketed to mainstream the message, and as I noted earlier were used as anti-war statements, UO sold it as an anti-war scarf, to reinforce the natural alliance between the anti-war crowd and terrorists. The alliance not based on a desire for peace, but a revulsion for America and Israel.

If anyone is interested in palestinian solidarity scarf thread 2. As I noted before, I doubt Rachel Ray knew what she was wearing, which imo was the popular, in some circles, solidarity/anti war scarf. This is why they sell the things. I'm sure the ad agency knew, at least the individual setting the shot, and it was smart of DD to pull the ad. A couple of my comments from the other thread in post 36
I’ve read that her father is Jewish.
Look closely, what Ray is wearing is not checkered either, it seems to be more of a woven or paisley pattern.
Hey, who knows more about chubby barely-legals...??
