The ACLU of Colorado filed a lawsuit against the city of Denver today to try to force the city to disclose what kind of police equipment it is buying in preparation for the Democratic National Convention this August.
Denver turned down the ACLU's request for the information about the purchase of police equipment earlier this year, saying that disclosure "could potentially disclose tactical security information of the Denver Police Department which would be contrary to the public interest."
the city is actually going to spend closer to half of the $50 million on equipment and the rest on personnel.
But the department has declined to share details, citing safety and security.
When the purchase of wireless cameras was discussed at the mayor/City Council meeting Tuesday and Councilwoman Jeanne Robb asked where they would be located, Deputy Mayor Bill Vidal, who was filling in for Hickenlooper, jokingly told her that they would have to kill her if they told her.

That works for me, no joke.
Liberals going after Liberals. Gotta love it.
The ACLU lacks standing on this. There is no civil rights violation.
So they are using our tax dollars to sue. Trying to find out what our tax dollars were spent on. All so they can bypass the security and end up cost us more tax dollars.
Looks like the real losers are the tax payers.
This is going to be a 5 day long nightmare in Denver. I live about 20 miles away and have friends in the police and medical fields who have been recieving all kinds of trainning for months.
Every nut-job group in the country that funds them selves by getting arrested and sueing is getting ready for the feast. The extended battle between Obama and Clinton is getting ready for a final act that should be one for the ages.
They may be basing the suit on the denial of a FOI request.
Operation Chaos
They are trying to drive the Democrats farther to the left just like Chicago in 1968. This will probably be a battle between two hard-core leftists over who will play god. In the past this has erupted into violence. Will Trotsky be just like Hillary? The feds have pledged to cover insuranse costs for Denver. I hope they used Progressive Insurance.
LOL!
Boy, I hope this whole deal sends Denver under. I am gonna clean my guns and watch....
Water cannons, OC gas and rubber bullets ..........oh me oh my !
Anarchist’s deserve the best we can hurt em with .......
It’s wathcing trash fighting trash. :)
$50million on police protection against a socialist riot.
How much would 4 years of this nonsense cost us?
Maybe they bought the sonic cannon that makes a target crap his pants.
Colorado Springs-based Ramblin Express, which shuttles gamblers to mountain-town casinos, including Cripple Creek, has received $382,000 in anti-terrorism grants.
A Federal Emergency Management Agency official said in written responses to questions the Ramblin Express’ money is for vehicle security and GPS systems.
Homeland security expert James Carafano derided the program as a “ridiculous” expense.
“This is checkbooks gone wild,”

This is democrats in charge.
AFLAC.
:’) It’s going to be a Hot Town, Summer in the City kind of time in Denver. Of course, after all this buildup, can the letdown be far behind? The stupid brown shirts were out in force at that McCain gig, and the Demwits from Dean to Clinton to Obama to the rest of the superdelegates want to avoid getting in that particular circle of torches.
