Have We Heard of Obama's Uncle Before?
A key update to this post, in which Obama describes "his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz."
From a Chicago Tribune profile of Obama's mother:
The education of Obama the would-be politician didn't begin, of course, until after his birth in 1961, in Honolulu. But the parental traits that would mold him a contrarian worldview, an initial rejection of organized religion, a questioning nature were already taking shape years earlier in the nomadic and sometimes tempestuous Dunham family, where the only child was a curious and precocious daughter of a father who wanted a boy so badly that he named her Stanley after himself.
Presuming Obama's mother didn't have some previously unknown long-lost brother, is Obama referring to his mother's cousin or some other, more distant relation on his mother's side? A great-uncle perhaps?
This uncle couldn't be on his Kenyan father's side, could it?
I doubt Obama would be insane enough to lie about this. But I think this is the first we've heard of this uncle from Obama. Like with his previously-unmentioned trip to Pakistan, Obama the subject of two autobiographies, other biographies, and countless magazine and newspaper profiles there are still chapters of his life story not yet explored.
This was the crazy uncle they kept locked up in the attic — at least for 6 months......
Yea, his uncle runs the luau at the Sheraton-Uncle Poi Poi.
And it is not the first time, eh?
Maybe Obama Senior had an older brother in the King’s African Rifles?
Maybe he was referring to a great-uncle. His grandfather’s brothers.
We need to find out whether this tale has ever turned up in Obama’s 2 books or any of his previous public utterances. It would be astonishing if his long-lost “uncle” who was there at the liberation of Auschwitz had never been mentioned before by Obama, given that he’s been talking in an autobiographical vein in public for more than a decade.
Does he even have an uncle who was in the ETO in WWII? Was it a more distant relative referred to as “uncle” (that is at least possible, my great uncle in the WWII generation, my mother’s uncle really, was always “Uncle” to me). Inquring minds want to know if Obama just let loose with another whopper gaffe. Certainly US troops were not involved with the liberation of Auschwitz in eastern Poland - were never there at all, it was deep into the area occupied by the USSR in 1945. Did Obama have a relative involved with the liberation of another concentration camp such as Dachau, or is the whole story bogus?
Probably his typical white woman grandmother’s brother.
Very plausible. Don’t want to defend this guy, but I can understand something like that. The Auschwitz thing still doesn’t fly though.
Why? He lies about virtually everything else.
Does Obama have Soviet relatives? I thought the Russians liberated Auschwitz......
Maybe he was just lying.....It’s been known to happen with politicians....
As a liberal, and even more importantly as a half-black liberal, he is granted a permanent mulligan on all personally aggrandizing and self-serving statements. Until he says something that actually offends the MSM (which only Algore and Hillary have managed to do in recent history), The Obama will not be questioned. He will not be scutinized. He will not be assailed or judged or looked upon with suspicion.
In fact, we are going to soon need to stop listening to him entirely in order to avoid being overwhelmed by the contradictory, imaginary and vacuous statements he continues to purvey. There simply is no other way to avoid madness on our part.
If this is in fact true, then his uncle was in the Soviet Red Army.
