Why Bob Barr Is Not a Conservative Alternative
Stop the ACLU ^

For conservatives unhappy with McCain as our candidate, I've heard a few mention Bob Barr as an alternative for their protest votes. Make sure you know who your voting for before you do so, and make sure if your protest is that of principle that you share the same principles with whom you pull the lever for. For some conservatives, Bob Barr's teamwork with the ACLU to fight against the Patriot Act and the NSA's terrorist surveillance program is enough to drop consideration. He has also sided with the ACLU on the immigration issue, opposing local law enforcement from helping to enforce immigration law.
However, for those that lean a little more towards the libertarian side...

I don't care for about 30% of what McCain stands for and don't trust him on another 20%. But that is still far better than the damage Obama could do with a Democratic Senate and House.
That kind of thinking is how we ended up with the idiot(s) we have now. I'm done voting for Republicans who aren't solidly Conservative, no matter the result.

Barr worked with the ACLU on privacy and civil liberties issues. He didn't advance their left-wing causes.

Bob Barr lost all credibility by joining up with the ACLU.
Did the Christian Coalition, the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America, the National Association of Manufacturers, the Family Research Council, the Southeastern Legal Foundation, the Business-Industry Political Action Committee, the National Right to Life Committee, or Oliver North lose credibility when they joined up with the ACLU on issues they agreed with?

It doesn't matter if Barr runs or not. Those that are planning to vote for Barr would've stayed home or wrote-in Ron Paul's name anyway if Barr wouldn't have ran. McCain does not have the money nor the votes to defeat Obama. Conservatives are demoralized and aren't going to volunteer and do grunt work for McCain like they did for GOP presidential candidates in the past.

Really?? Bob Barr is the ONLY choice? WRONG!! Barr is a Libertarian, and Libertarians are no better than Liberals to true conservatives. There is NOTHING “conservative” about the LP OR about Bob Barr.
This statement (”Barr IS the only choice”) is total baloney. The only choice for conservatives is Rev. Chuck Baldwin of The CP. Read his position on the issues. He’s tougher on illegal immigration that Hunter and Tancredo put together, he’s for the U.N. out of the U.S., he’s 1,000% against the SPP/TTC/NAU and he’s for getting tough on Red China. In fact, there isn’t one thing Rev. Baldwin stands for that is non-consevative.
Although the MNM refuses to acknowledge The Constitution Party (probably because they’re afraid of it and what it would do the GOP if the word ever got out), they ARE acknowledging Bob Barr and the LP. This is amazing, because the CP is a larger party and is truly “conservative” whereas the LP is chocked full of folks who believe in “laissez faire”, legalizing illicit drugs, etc.

A man who was one of the main movers and shakers in the impeachment trial of President Clinton, which most libertarians opposed The person quoted doesn't know what he is talking about. I moved in libertarian circles during that period and they were overwhelmingly for the impeachment and removal of Clinton. For most libertarians now, Barr's involvement in the impeachment trial is an important selling point in his favor.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that Baldwin is also a truther. Barr has rejected truther nonsense.

I'm considering Barr or the Constitution Party's candidate, or a write-in. I won't be a part of this RINO charade. Read Barr's flip-flop on the Defense of Marriage Act.

Until the Constitution Party changes their preamble to the party platform, I and many other Conservatives have no use for them.-
The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States.
This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.

Really, Jay777?
How is a vote for Barr, Chuck Baldwin or any other third party candidate “a vote for Obama”? In stating this, you are incorrectly assuming that those voting for these other candidates from third parties would have voted for the Republican candidate!
Furthermore, calling those who are planning to vote for a third party candidate “protest voters” is an insult to them, because I would venture that most if not all of them have thought long and hard about voting third party AND ARE VOTING THEIR CONSCIENCE AND CONVICTIONS, something RINOs and those voting for them haven’t got or have very little of. As a matter of fact, I’ll venture that most third party voters are more “in touch” with the issues than are the Demo and GOP voters. Why? Because they’ve been there, done that. They’re not voting OUT OF FEAR but out of conscience. There’s a big difference, there. I held my nose and voted for Bush in 2000. Boy, was THAT a mistake. Most third party voters don’t want to make that mistake again.

I find nothing offensive or unacceptable about that CP preamble. I’m talking about the policies/positions of that party and their nominee.
And whether that preamble at The CP bothers you or not, that has nothing to do with the fact that Chuck Baldwin, on the issues, is the only true conservative in the race.
In 2004, he was the VP of Peroutka, a candidate whose every sentence had “God” in it. That disturbed me, and I told The CP that as long as they fronted nominees who sounded more like preachers than politicians, I wouldn’t vote for them. Rev. Chuck is very different from Peroutka in that way.
Don’t forget! Jimmah Carter was an ordained minister and I believe we’ve had other Presidents who were preachers, as well. Huckabee, though not a President, is a minister/preacher.

Attention everyone. Don't listen to Always Right and vote for me. My first act would be to dissolve Congress and send them all home because they would just get in the way as I elimate most of the federal government. Well you win. There is no way I can top that platform.

Bob Barr IS the only choice for Conservatives. Because hes 75% of the way there. Lightyears ahead of the commies and wicked McLame.
That may very well be, but you're still throwing your vote away. In fact, you're taking a vote away from McCain and helping Obama. And McCain is at least better than Barry Hussein.
