“...Obama also spoke about his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz...”
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/05/26/politics/fromtheroad/entry4127479.shtml

I am sure that there was no American brigade in Poland in 1945. The Soviets liberated the camp in January 1945 when Americans hadn’t even crossed the Rhine.

American troops were NEVER in Auschwitz ever? That seems odd to me.

Auschwitz is deep inside Poland.

The Soviet Army occupied Poland as the Nazis retreated.

The Soviets also occupied a good chunk of eatern Germany, hence the name of the Soviet satellite state "East Germany."

US troops did not set foot in Poland.

Wow, thanks, wideawake. And even then, the hoax did not include Auschwitz.

Was Hussain’s uncle black or white?

Was Hussain’s uncle black or white?

Presumably white, since no Kenyans fought in US uniform in WWII - the problem is that his mother, Stanley Dunham, was an only child and she was born during WWII.

It was physically impossible for his grandparents to have had any children old enough to have fought in WWII.

So whatever relative he's talking about, it isn't an uncle but some more distant relation who was perhaps called an uncle.

I think it was an imaginary uncle up in Obama’s attic.

Hussein presumably means his white uncle. Kenyans did not fight in WWII.

His great uncle, perhaps?

Was he talking about his crazy uncle, Jeremiah?

During Indy's whispered talk with Mutt he explains that he was in the OSS during the Second World War and his entrance into Asswitch was facilitated by Bark OBombard's uncle.

Truth be told, the Bark of the Coverall is hidden in the Bombard's attic!

The questions then are: What was his grandfather's name? his unit? his dates of service? his dates of service with that unit? when did they enter the camp? do the unit records support Barry's assertion? did they physically enter the camp itself or simply visit one of the satellite camps? does Barry have any evidence to support his assertion that his grandfather was one of those who entered the camp? Are there other soldiers who can corroborate Barry's assertion?

It’s sad that Obama’s hard-wired liberal voters won’t care one whit about this lie. They will vote for him regardless. Feel good buzz-words over substance.

My dad was with Patton’s army at the end of the war. The unit my father was in, did liberate a Stalag of US POW’s. He also did go to one of the camp, although he was not in the unit. that liberated it. I’ll have to check in my documents and see if I can get the name of the camp.

Who knows. I don't know if his American grandparents had any sisters or brothers.

What I do know is that they both moved far away from their Kansas hometowns, first to Seattle and then to Honolulu.

I doubt that Obama had much personal interaction with any of these relatives, if they existed.

Could have been his play aunt's husband or boyfriend or brother who spoke polish and hacked his way through the Soviet lines with a magic ciupaga.

Patton's troops liberated a number of concentration camps and internment camps.

None of the places they liberated were in Poland, however.

The Seventh Army under Patton liberated Dachau, for example.

And took part in the famous "Dachau Massacre."

Might have been here instead.

Gen. Dwight Eisenhower ordered the entire U.S. 4th Armored Division to tour Buchenwald so they could see the Nazis' brutality.

Your father was likely in the 14th Armored Division of Patton's Third Army. The 14th was later officially nicknamed the 'Liberators' because they were the first through the gates so often.

The camp your father's unit liberated was likely Mooseburg. It was the largest POW camp in Europe. One of my uncles was the first guy through that gate after his tank platoon took care of @ 240 SS die-hards. He's in one of Brokaw's books for it. Very likely he served with your dad.

Darn good slogan for the obamessiah. As historically ignorant as he is, he will probaly use it.

I'd love to see Obamalama and McCain each get handed a sheet with 5 history questions at their first debate.
