People who watch CNBC are a pretty narrow, self-selected group. While CNBC itself might not necessarily be conservative, its viewers probably tend to be quite a bit more conservative than average, at least on economic issues like this one.

I’d be more interested to see what a scientific poll says.

Too bad the GOP is making no discernible effort to take advantage of the historic low esteem Americans have for this wacky Democrat-controlled Congress.

The question itself is quite stupid (in fitting with CNBC's entire existence).

Does America have an "oil crisis" - or just higher than normal gasoline prices?
And even if we did have a crisis, why do we assume that someone needs to be "blamed?"

Anyone with half a brain would know it is the fault of congress and their enviro supporters.

While I was once an ardent Repub, and still remain a staunch Constitutional conservative, I gave up on these losers. Since Washington became a POWER GAME instead of a governmental force to maintain America, protect its Constitution and citizens rights, conservatism has waned and failed and as political institution. The introduction of “compassionate conservatism” (radical social liberalism) was the final death blow to the traditional Republican leadership, IMHO.

The party “leadership” and RINOs will have to be cleaned out and replaced with solid conservative Americans who care about America, its founding principles, and Constitution, first. This should be a focus and priority for conservative voting America in the upcoming elections.

How is “W” resposible? He has been a backer for ANWAR,etc. exploration and development!I lay the blame directly at the feet of Congress!!The DemonRats(who are a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Enviro-Wackos),as well as RINOS like McCain and others!!!As for”the speculators”,they would be completely powerless if we were producing(for ourselves)a larger share of our 20 million barrel per-day consumption!!!!This “poll”merely demonstrates the utter stupidity of a large portion of Americans and the fact that they are still getting their”news”from the alphabets!!!!!

Since the GOP has a candidate with nothing but contempt for those who worked for (sneer) profit , maybe they will join Maxine Waters and take over the oil biz .

Except most of the GOPers in Congress have gone along with the damaging excesses of the Dems. (farm bill anyone)Since taking over Congess in 94 the greatest achievements of the GOP occurred during Clinton's term Ending wlfare, eliminating the deficit, and throwing a roadblock in the way of government growth. Then Bush 43 iselected and with the exception of the tax cut the work of Congress mirrors the design of the Dems. It can't even be called Dem lite.

Sad to say, in 20 years a good conservative will be one promising that he has no intention of touching universal health care, the way they now swear not to touch Social Security and Medicare.

There are three reasons.

1. We let the CONgress get away with allowing private banks to run and determine our money value and supply. Which has resulted in about a 50% net decrease in the value of our money since the year 2000.
2. The futures hawks have had a field day running up the price in the futures markets to the tune of about 30 bucks a barrel.
3. And yes, again CONgress has been paid off like the slimey prostitutes they are by the envirus lobby so they will not allow drilling anywhere at anytime.

The American people are on whole to GD stupid to do anything about this. The American public will fall in line like the sheep they are and allow the swindle to continue.

Lazy and stupid.
