Presence of American Troops in America Sends Pete Stark Over the Edge

Of course Democrats in Congress support the troops. But that doesn't mean they have to tolerate being in the same building with them. From a letter an enraged Fortney Hillman "Pete" Stark, Jr. (D-CA) recently sent to the Secretary of Defense:

Dear Secretary Gates:

Yesterday, while voting on the war supplemental spending bill in the House of Representatives, I couldn’t help but notice a contingent of approximately 20 flag rank Army officers sitting in the House Gallery watching the debate and vote for a couple of hours. I was looking from below so I thought they were Army, but there could have been other branches present.

It’s possible they were on leave time or vacation. If so, I obviously have no concern. However, if they were doing this on military time, I want an explanation of why they were there.

At a time when our nation is at war, our troops are over-extended, and the Administration is literally asking for emergency military spending, what good to the “war on terror” is having US Generals and other top ranked officers - who were likely accompanied by staff and escorted by their chauffeurs - spending hours sitting in the gallery of the House of Representatives?

Please provide for me the name, rank, branch, and duties of each of these officers, as well as the number of additional staff and drivers that were used to facilitate their attendance yesterday. I would like this information by Monday, May 19th.

If they were here on official duty, this was an abhorrent misallocation of our military resources at a time of war.

Sincerely,

Pete Stark

Apparently Stark has enough of a conscience not to want American soldiers to witness their ongoing betrayal by his fellow Dems.

For a freaking democrat panty-waste to demand accountability for time-off taken by someone else, is the utter and complete height of hypocracy.

To the Honorable Congressman Stark, from the flag officers present during the debate: Admittedly, it is usually more entertaining to laugh and throw popcorn at the TV while you nutcases go at each other on CSPAN, but for important votes like this, we want to see who is stabbing us in the back in person. Kindly find enclosed your latest dagger - it’s being returned because, even for you, that was pretty weak and dull, and we like hardened and sharp knives.

Officers should be present at these debates always.

I'd prefer non politicaly motivated NCOs.

He complains about the staff the generals need with them but not a word about all the trips these jerks(congresscritters) take and take along their families and nannys and maids, etc. at the taxpayers expense.

I just wonder what kind of “information” he received on “Monday, May 19th”, if any.
I hope he got a memo reminding him that these Army officers (or whomever they were) had just as much right as any other American to view Congress in session. I mean, who the HELL does this guy think he is - the CIC?? Doesn’t he work for THEM??

I took a tour of the Capitol when I was in DC a couple of months ago with my family. The guide talked about how in the early American Congress, it was usually FULL of spectators and when they didn’t like what one of the guys on the floor had to say, they’d heckle him and throw fruit at him. Sounds pretty appropriate in this case, if you ask me.

5 minutes in a locked room with Mr. Stark, that's all I ask.

Deal, on the condition that the room is miked and we can hear him cry and plead.

Someone needs to catch this d***** bag tap dancing in the Minneapolis Airport.

Acceptable, nay expected, Democrat behavior; Stark would likey receive a courage under the toilet award at the Democrat convention.

This legend in his own mind, needs an attitude adjustment and a ten minute cement massage. Hey petey-boy, if you were such a man and had any cujones, why did you not step up and tell them to their faces, how you really feel? You know why, because they would have stomp your milque-toast arse to the ground./Just Asking - seoul62........
