Presence of American Troops in America Sends Pete Stark Over the Edge

Of course Democrats in Congress support the troops. But that doesn't mean they have to tolerate being in the same building with them. From a letter an enraged Fortney Hillman "Pete" Stark, Jr. (D-CA) recently sent to the Secretary of Defense:

Dear Secretary Gates:

Yesterday, while voting on the war supplemental spending bill in the House of Representatives, I couldn’t help but notice a contingent of approximately 20 flag rank Army officers sitting in the House Gallery watching the debate and vote for a couple of hours. I was looking from below so I thought they were Army, but there could have been other branches present.

It’s possible they were on leave time or vacation. If so, I obviously have no concern. However, if they were doing this on military time, I want an explanation of why they were there.

At a time when our nation is at war, our troops are over-extended, and the Administration is literally asking for emergency military spending, what good to the “war on terror” is having US Generals and other top ranked officers - who were likely accompanied by staff and escorted by their chauffeurs - spending hours sitting in the gallery of the House of Representatives?

Please provide for me the name, rank, branch, and duties of each of these officers, as well as the number of additional staff and drivers that were used to facilitate their attendance yesterday. I would like this information by Monday, May 19th.

If they were here on official duty, this was an abhorrent misallocation of our military resources at a time of war.

Sincerely,

Pete Stark

Apparently Stark has enough of a conscience not to want American soldiers to witness their ongoing betrayal by his fellow Dems.

I am sure the Secretary will find the appropriate way to convey those same thoughts in a civil manner.

Democrats believe that it's "a time of war" as it suits their purposes. They have no problem at all associating with people who openly side with the enemy in this "time of war."

I would like an accounting from Stark ... what have you actually done to earn a pay check funded by my taxes. Please respond in detail.

Agreed. If you ask me the military needs to start taking more of a hand in our government. Officers should be present at these debates always.

Who does this arrogant S.O.B. think he is? More importantly, who does he think provides him the cover and the right to be the flaming embarassment he is to any of the brave men he so casually besmirches?

What this country needs, desperately, is for Pete Stark to continue with these idiotic rants and demands until even the dumbest tree-hugging tofu-farter among us gets the message that all RATS loathe the military and the nation as a whole. Outrageoous demands such as Congressman Starks pukes from his pie hole only serve to point out the raging insanity that is prevalent in the RAT party. Our fellow citizens need to be made aware, by the words and actions of jerks like Stark, what the real agenda of the left is. I encourage the congressman to pursue his investigation with all the gusto he can muster, so long as he makes a point of presenting his findings as loudly and publicly as is possible.

I think his being in Congress is an abhorrent misallocation of public resources. Hopefully next time Mr. Stark is up for election he will find himself reallocated to a place more fitting for him.

And this coming from "BipolarBob."

Glad the meds kicked in, man. :-)

You must remember: to the left, President Bush's spending his time at, much less enjoying his daughter's wedding was an abhorrent waste of his time and resources in "a time of war."

There was a time when men like this were asked outside to satisfy honor.

It’s a crying shame that the most satisfaction individuals like Stark are likely to provide these days is based in ridiculing their stupidity.

Shut your gob Stark, we all can see you are a fool, no one needs further evidence.

Love how he puts “war on terror” in scare quotes.

Hey Stark — you can’t have it both ways. You can be cynical about the mission, or you can be serious about the need for the military to stay focused on the mission. But you can’t be both at the same time.
