BRONXVILLE, NY (AP) ― Oscar-winner Jessica Lange bashed the Bush administration and denounced the war in Iraq during a Friday commencement address at Sarah Lawrence College.
The star of "Tootsie" and "Blue Sky" was applauded by students at the small liberal arts college after comparing the conflict with the Vietnam War.
She said the graduates -- including her 22-year-old daughter Hannah Shepard -- have "a heavy burden" to chart a new path for the country.
"We are living in an America that, in the last seven and a half years, has waged an unnecessary war, established prison camps, condoned torture, employed corporate armies, eliminated the right of habeas corpus, practiced extraordinary rendition, and believe me, this is only a partial list," Lange said.
Lange asked the graduates to commit themselves to the "pursuit of peace."
Is she trained in international politics, government, economics, any military experience? No? Then respectfully, shut the F up lady. These "celebs" need to realize the only reason people listen to them is they are good looking, can maybe recite their lines, or they have some musical talent, or some talent at a sport. That's it. They are basically paid to entertain us. Us, the people that went to school, stayed in school, got advanced degrees. People who have worked a job, really worked and gained experience, and know what the {expletive} they're talking about. People that do really put it on the line, not just act a part.
These entertainers should remember, or realize, they really don't know anything about anything. They don't live in the real world.
And ocne again we hear from another empty headed blank canvas expounding on things well beyond her comprehension.

No wonder she was tapped to play the part of Jacqueline Kennedy's wacky aunt Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale, in the yet to be released film "Grey Gardens." I'm surprised the Kennedys haven't made a big stink about that.
