9 May 2008, Elder Street and Georgia Avenue, Washington, DC
Well FREEPERs a funny thing happened on the way to filing this report. Your correspondent either tried to sky dive, snow oard or do a war dance on his back stoop Saturday night May 10. The result was a visit to Silver Springs Holy Cross Hospital, locally known as the Holy Hilton. The foot doctor for DC United was on the premises as I had managed to crack the bone where the Achilles tendon attaches. Long story short Im currently on injured reserve.
Enough about me. Early in the evening VictoryNY organized a young squad of enthusiastic troop supporters from the neighborhood: Marianna (10), Amanda (9), Zavier (10) and Sebastian (8).
They were most excellent and received an ethusiatic response from passers by.
We were honored with a visit from Sergeant Fyre
and Private Quinn.
Private Quinn had sustained injuries during Basic Training and was accompanying Sergeant Frye on his patrol of the main gate area.
Later in the evening Sarah and Chris stopped by to chat. Chris informed me that he had been spit on in the Portland, Oregon Airport when had returned from Iraq. Sara and Chris are seen here with kburi.

Cindy True-Supporter and Sergeant Frye
Big John whose Vietnam Veterans organization provides transport for our brave warriors also stopped by.
He and kburi exchanged some interesting I was there spook stories.
VAFlagwaver was the designated photographer. She forgot to take one of herself. More pictures are available here

Sorry to hear you are “temporarily on injured reserve”.
Hope to see you “on your feet” when I return to that area next month

Hope you recover quickly and thank you for your service hun
ps: My daughter Haley wanted you to know her “documentary” of the 3 year anniversary WRAMC Freep is complete. We have had major issues with the burning of it. I pray that the tech help we have will get this thing done and in the hands of the DC Chapter. Better late to never :-(

Hope your foot heals very quickly--kinda hard to move around on only one wheel, isn't it?
Ohhhhh, I am so sorry about your injury. Prayers for speedy healing. Thank you for the AAR, and a nice one at that. It’s great to see the kids getting involved. Maybe it will plant seeds of patriotism in their young minds so they won’t grow up to be liberals or dimmicrats. Good to see the warriors stopping by also. God bless them every one. ((((JVB))))
That’s nothing, we call our local hospital, Pleasant Valley, “Death Valley Hospital”. Their reputation is not stellar.
our string is unbroken
Thank you! for the report and for representing all us non-DC FReepers.Let the string be unbroken! Hurray!
Taxman Bravo Zulu! JVB.
Get well soon!
Get well soon, my friend!
Any thought on the connection that those of us who are part-timers are the ones who end up with leg injuries?
So sorry to hear about your injury... hope they gave you some really good drugs!! Get well soon!! We miss you!!
Good job on the report despite being on injured reserve. Wishing you a speedy recovery. God Bless the brave heroes that came out to join you. Kudos to VictoryNY for gathering the enthusiastic, young troop supporters! An extra bonus to see along with all the other wonderful pictures of fine Patriots. Thank you!
