SAN ANGELO, Texas - A state appellate court has ruled that child welfare officials had no right to seize more than 400 children living at a polygamist sect's ranch.
The Third Court of Appeals in Austin ruled that the grounds for removing the children were "legally and factually insufficient" under Texas law. They did not immediately order the return of the children.
Child welfare officials removed the children on the grounds that the sect pushed underage girls into marriage and sex and trained boys to become future perpetrators.
The appellate court ruled the chaotic hearing held last month did not demonstrate the children were in any immediate danger, the only measure of taking children from their homes without court proceedings.
No problem, sarcasm is always obvious to the guy using it. My fault for not being clearer
After awhile, I must admit that included me. I kind of gave up, tired of being called a rapist.
They were, and still are, no different that the Block Watchers of the old USSR.
And every bit as dangerous.
Fascists, the whole damn lot of 'em.
Shoot the "Religious Police"?
Works for me. I've been practicing with my scoped semi-auto scarry looking black rifle, in 7.62x51, aka 7.62 NATO. (If it was select fire, it would be a battle rifle, as parts of it originally were). No wimpy semi-auto version of an assault rifle for me. :)
That's because like most Fascists they're cowards at heart.
We need someone to build a list of who they are and private Freepmail it around.
They're damn dangerous.
Maybe it’s not a screen name.
Actually that was part of the judges ruling. That the entire "compound"/community should not have been considered a single home/household.
They really should have taken the “fathers” away and not the children or mothers. They are the criminals not the children.
No one has been charged with a crime
I agree. The people in this cult were nut jobs. Hopefully all of this will get sorted out. If laws were broken the state will prosecute. I don't know all the details unlike many kneejerks on this thread.
Not even alleged criminals? Damn. Then take em out back and shoot em. We don't need no steenkin court stickin their noses in this!
People have a right to have their brains washed if they want. I just want to keep the state away from children.
Who did?
Recall that there was more than one call.
The supposed "Sarah" spent FORTY HOURS on the phone with an anti-polygamy activist (Flora Jessop), starting the day after the first call.
It wasn't until the following week--FIVE DAYS after the first call--that police got the warrant.
That's not exactly "racing to an emergency"...
.
The following article gives a brief explanation on how the system works in terms of progressive steps in investation stages. It also provides a "glimpse" into the CPS systems debacled quagmire. It does not go into incidences where case workers have been fined and/or jailed due to lying or breaking laws.
Child Protective Services: Problems, Reforms and More Problems
Another example are CPS workers vs. Border agents:
Children of the State The feds and Texas quarrel over custody of undocumented kids.
Another Texas CPS worker scamming (not the Brazoria County CPS bunch who scammed citizens claiming a child was a Katrina victim who had lost his mother... and wasn't):
Williamson County CPS Ripoff Caseworker Leslie St. Aubin Williamson County TEXAS CPS Worker Allegedly Ripped Off Child My Taxes Pay Her Salary! Taylor Texas
And the pedophile priests of the Catholic Church!.
Then there's Scientology. And the Exclusive Brethren, And the Moonies. Plus all the one-man-megachurches.
Cults, you can't eat just one.
are we having fun here yet today?
i heard this in my truck today and i thought man, I bet the long knives are out on FR bigtime.
