Jeez, I am was confused, the Republicans have not increased spending?
Jeez, I am was confused, the Republicans have not increased spending?
The supoosed leadership has not pushed amnesty?
L/libertarians won’t be influenced by a VP running mate unless it is Ron Paul.
I used to think that the GOP was the party of Good Guys but they’ve proven no different than the Democrats except that the democrats are more adept at politics.
One major difference.....Barr is not a real candidate.
He is a pretender. To conjur up a reason to vote for him is a cop out, mental gymnastics to justify not making a decision between the two actual candidates.
Actually, Bert, it requires far more mental gymnastics for me to find a reason to vote FOR either of the two other candidates, and even I can't bend that far without breaking.
.....it requires far more mental gymnastics for me to find a reason to vote FOR either of the two other candidates.....
I understand your point and don’t deny that there is going to be effort required.
If you want to vote for President, there are only two choices. To vote for Barr or any other third party candidate is mental laziness because it is an easy out to avoid spending the mental effort to decide between the two viable candidates.
Voting for Barr or writing in for Fred or Duncan will accomplish nothing and may very well do the harm of allowing Obama/hillary to be elected. Remember that bill clinton was elected with less than a 50% majority largely because folks voted for Perot knowing he could not be elected. That is my present fear.
Sorry Bert, but "if I want to vote for president", there are as many choices as I choose -- including the option of not voting at all -- it's my damn vote, not yours! And yes, I am aware of the consequences.
But when the "choices" are between TWO socialists -- McCain & Obama-- who both want to grant amnesty to illegals and keep our borders open; who both want to bankrupt this country into foreign servitude; who both want sell us out to global interests -- and the only "difference" is that one of them -- McCain -- wants to speed up this process through more expensive and devastating wars that make us even LESS (not more) SECURE -- then, NO, those aren't "choices" -- except in "choosing one's weapon" for national suicide.
The "choice" I chose is to send a message to my Republican Party that "You can't win an election without us Conservatives and we won't be ignored!", which us a hell of a lot better than staying home and not voting so they can ignore us!
Obama is no greater a fear for me than McCain is -- as a matter of fact, I think it would be harder to watch a Republican give away our country than it would be to watch a Democrat do it.
At least voting for a third Party Conservative would make a point -- voting for the other two is tantamount to turning into a mindless drone.
The only point made is mental laziness and an unwillingness to make a difficult choice.
LOL! ok, Bert....nevermind...
Hopefully, the libertarians will spoil every leading candidate's chances.
Libertarians can’t affect McCain’s results, unless they revolt against anti-libertarian Bob Barr (the LPs candidate this year) at the state level and deny him the cheap ballot access he wants from the LP.

The real question is how many votes Barr can take from McCain. He could take many votes from McCain because he’s more conservative than McCain and has name recognition as a strong social conservative.
Many conservatives will like “libertarian” Barr because he’s pro Iraq war, for anti-gay “defense of marriage” legislation, pro drug war, and strongly against illegal immigration.
If state LP parties can’t deny Barr enough ballot access, then by their impotence they may, by failing to stop Barr, tip the election to the Dems.
agreed.
Yes, they have. But I'm not sure what that has to do with what I was posting about. Can you clarify?
Again, yes, they have. But again, what does that have to do with what I was posting about?
So what? McCain is more than half-Democrat anyway.
Sometimes, you gotta have principles. I'm through voting for somebody, anybody, just because they don't carry a (D) after their name.
McCain must earn my trust and my vote. He's hasn't done much so far.
