The aspect of that which is causing young black men to kill one another is, I beleive, not having someone around in their home to teach what it really means to be a man.
Why don't I assault other men who may insult me? Not because I am some kind of perfectly patient Christian, but mostly because I know that if I end up in prison for "avenging my honor" I will leave my wife and my parents and my children without someone to stand up for them, help them and protect them. I will lose my children's respect, my ability to earn for them will be severely impaired, etc.
A young man who grows up with no respect for an absent, negligent father (and who can blame him for not respecting his father?) probably cannot conceive of the beneficial internal restraint this occasions.
Just as drugs had its start in America in the Black Community and later moved into the White Community
I have to call foul here. Marijuana and heroin were prevalent in both communities before the 60s and cocaine began its career as America's premier party drug among the rich and famous, mostly white elite.
Crack was an inner city phenomenon because it was a ridiculously cheap form of cocaine, tailormade for the pockets of the black working class who could not aspire to the expensive powdered coke popular among the white middle class.
And meth began as a white rural phenomenon.
Drug abuse is a universal phenomenon in the US, sadly.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
The government should step in, and when the numbers of blacks murdered outnumbers the number of whites, they should send out the police to randomly kill some whites for (as Obama would say) “fairness’ sake”.
Heck, if you think about proportional representation, the cops would have to shoot 8 whites for every black murdered.
That would be “fair”, now wouldn’t it, lefties?
Abilene, TX used to be a pretty calm place, but since bush has been in office we have had numerous murders. We have a small black population, so the illegal and legal aliens (Mexicans) have been doing the shooting that blacks won’t do.
Somebody finally got a clue? They’ll still probably determine that 1+1=3.
I used to say that ‘diversity’ is ‘racism in drag.’
Actually, it’s more like a big hairy smelly bull dyke with tatoos.
I have been involved fairly extensively in prison ministry. The common denominator among the prisoners at the institution I serve is the lack of a stable family enjoyed by them in their youth. This is the case for the vast majority of the men (>90%, IMO) regardless of race or cause of incarceration.
Seems plausible. After my parents split things went kinda haywire for a few of us. Can only imagine what it might have been like if they'd never been together prior to that.
Is it TV or reality that gives the impression that black families are often matriarchal-a 'who's your daddy' with "Big Mamma" in charge?
If one digs about a bit it becomes evident that many northern states began their gun control laws specifically when and because blacks were granted freedom and some began moving north. An interesting window on the thoughts of those who originated these laws is the Dredd Scott decision in that one of the reasons blacks "cant" be fully human is that that status would grant them the Right to Bear Arms.
How ironic that those who presently claim to find racism in every part of society are those who most loudly continue to promote laws rooted in racism...
I believe that to be largely the case. Even in Justice Thomas' situation, his mother (whom I've had the pleasure to meet) stepped in and made sure he and his brother had a strong male influence.
IMNSHO, we owe her a lot.
Just like our anti-drug laws, our anti-gun laws are racist in origin. It kind of helps dig out the hypocrites, doesn’t it?
No doubt. This has gotten me wondering if there'll be any fallout from the years of feminism that has relegated the male to a lesser role in the family.
Forgetting Vince Foster, eh?
