Glad to hear hon. All is well here. Got some walking in today. Not much, but some. :) Hopefully I’ll be motivated to walk a little further each day!
...less of me is a happier me! :)
Good evening, Mac....good for you and your day off. I had a 12:30p appointment and decided to take the rest of the day off.
My daughter went on a new diet and lost a pound a week. They bring the meals to the door. You take care Beautiful.(((Hugs)))
Thank you, now I have all. FRmailing you back, and what a lovely, tranquil picture that is. I owe you bigtime, girl!!:)
All those years as an altar boy paid off.
I have spent the last 8 months working in a nursing home. I got quite close to several of my residents and their families. One of these was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. I am also a Patriot Guard Rider. During the "Journey of Old Glory" early this year, a flag that had been flown over the Arizona was sent on a journey across the US, making stops at important military cemeteries and battle fields, and they sought to bring the Pearl Harbor Survivors from each state to the location and give them recognition and a THANK YOU, when the flag raising ceremony occurred in their state. My friend was not well enough to make the trip across the state. Upon hearing that, the local and State PGR captains made an extra effort and saw to it that a certificate was printed, framed and then some of our PGR-ers presented it to him a few months ago. They were hoping to get all the survivors in the state together for Memorial Day, however, he will not make it.
::tearfully:: He passed away last weekend. The family asked Patriot Guard to hold flag line for the funeral. We did. They also asked us to be pall bearers. We did. While it was an honor for me, it was also one of the hardest things I have done in my life!! He will be missed!!
He shared very little with his family, especially his kids, about his experience in Pearl Harbor. Last fall, he started to tell me things. He was there as a mere kid, and when he talked about it I could see he was reliving it all. He told me he was never free from it a day in his life. Thank you, Len, for your service to our country. May you rest in peace. You are missed! It was an honor being a part of your life. You are now free of the pain in your heart, mind and body. Save a dance for me, Len!

The funeral...we held flag line outside and then came in to the back of the room and held the line. It was hard to watch the family touch him, kiss him good-bye. It was harder to watch the funeral director tuck in the fabric and close the lid of the casket only 6 feet in front of me. Harder still to watch the flag folding ceremony! I never dreamt I would be a pall bearer.
The graphic and music is great! Thank you!! hugs, sis!
Thank YOU for giving me the chance to honor this hero!
I think it probably broke your heart and everyone’s in the room to watch the family lay this blessed hero to rest.
Thank you for being there for them!
Thank you, Randy!
I wish I could meet each and every one of them BEFORE they pass, Just to give them my thanks!
I know what you mean. It was an honor to shake all the hands of the veterans in March 2007, in DC! AWESOME! Any time I see a veteran, I shake their hand and thank them, wherever I am....they look stunned because so few people show they care or seem to care any more.
I just wish more would take the time to spend a few moments with the few remaining heroes we have left from the “Greatest Generation”!
There is much to be learned from those proud and devoted patriots! They sacrificed so much so that we could survive as a proud country...Some of US feel this way at least!
It really hurts when I see fools spending the political capital that was fought so bravely for, on useless crap like ILLEGAL immigration.....
They deserve so much better for the sacrifices they made for this great country!
I so hope that you’ll be able to tell his family about the things he told you. My dad’s a WWII vet, and I hang onto everything he says: It all means the world to me.
Oh, beachy....I hadn’t heard. Prayers go out to the Chapman family.
BTTT
