Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on Friday is scheduled to meet with two Republican governors who have been prominently mentioned as potential running mates, according to Republicans familiar with Mr. McCains plan.
Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, have both accepted invitations to meet with Mr. McCain at his home in Arizona, according to Republican familiars with the decision. One Republican said that Mitt Romney, a former rival of Mr. McCain for the presidential nomination is also expected to visit him this weekend. Mr. Romneys advisers declined to comment.

Am I the only person who thinks J C Watts would be a brilliant choice?
********************
No. :)
the only way he would get my vote is if he had Hunter or Herman Cain as his mate
When I first looked at her, I was worried about the "no experience" card, too, and still am a little. But Obama would be crazy to play that against her. If he did, and they played their cards really right, they could make it look sexist that she gets attacked for a lack of experience but he doesn't. While experience is nice, I'm not sure it's necessary and she brings so many other things to the ticket that McCain needs that I think she's one of the best choices McCain could make. Remember that she, like McCain, also has a child in the military (Army) and that's the best answer in the world to the liberal whining about being willing to send your own kids into war. She also helps cover McCain on gun rights (lifetime NRA member and a hunting picture on her offical bio page) and abortion (pro-life enough to carry a Down's Syndrome baby to term). And her term on the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission as well as a Hospital board give her some experience with two big campaign issues (energy and healthcare).
Almost all of them are pro-life, but some people on this website think anyone who doesn’t agree with them on all issues, especially immigration, is a RINO or a socialist. That label has been slung at McCain, Huckabee, Romney etc. Since I’m “soft” on the immigration issue I’d be labeled that also. My top issues are pro-life and national defense and any Republican will be better than what the Democrats offer.
add Alan Keyes that list..
LOL!
The economy will be the number one issue and he needs someone strong -he needs Romney.
A McCain-Crist ticket would be kinda like Christ-Crist per Sue from the Georgia GOP.
If he chooses Crist, then he’s a fool.
Crist really needs this appointment, though, because he’s made a royal mess here in Florida, and the chickens are coming home to roost.
“the chickens are coming home to roost.” That you, Rev Wright?
Romney! The economy is going to the major issue this Fall.
*omney was a horrible Governor, a liberal, and an out-an-out gutless backstabbing weasel who cut and run from his responsibilities to whore after the Presidency and killed what was left of the MA GOP. No character and a pathological liar on par with the Clintons. The perfect Democrat.
I doubt that it will be Jindal. The only reason he might pick Crist is if he thought Crist could deliver Florida. Romney is probably out because of his religion.
That leaves Pawlenty.
Duncan Hunter
I expect it will be Pawlenty. The guy is young and from a blue/purple state that the GOP might be able to turn with him on the ticket. Also, the GOP convention is in MN and it is just too easy to take advantage of that fact
I myself like Sanford but McCain probably thinks he doesn’t need a Southerner on the ticket
Nowhere in this article does the name HUCKABEE appear.
Hallelujah!! Praise the Lord! Can I hear an Amen?
Spaketh Mr. Religious Tolerance who also got the politics wrong.
It won’t matter for McCain.
He’ll probably have that “silly little law” eradicated.
