I'll take the savings in social services, law enforcement, education and medical services. When last calculated in California, each "immigrant" represented a net annual cost of at least $1500 annually to the taxpayers. That's after accounting for any positive economic activity. Multiply that by 20 million...at least. Send them home.

Last summer I was hospitalized overnight in South Miami General Hospital with a vicious case of food poisoning. In agony I sat in the emergency waiting room with 8 people for almost two hours before I was seen.

The cost billed to my insurance: $8,000. When I returned two nights later for a copy of the reports the same admitting orderly was on duty. I asked “how many of my fellow patients were paying customers?” He typed on the computer for a moment, looked around (no one was within hearing distance) and said “you”. Any guesses as to what Central American dialects were spoken by them? (As distinct from the easily recognizable - to me, at least - Cuban accented Spanish.)

... they are moving into the most advanced society ever built on this planet

We're so "advanced" we can't even protect our borders and we continue to support this "expense."

Legal and restrained immigration is the only route.

Absolutley agreed!

By the author's calculations then, each illegal immigrant in Texas is generating $183,333 in expenditures. What a steaming pile of BS.
My calculator came up with a slightly higher number, but bump that for sure.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that the author with the last name "Moreno" may be slightly biased ...

It's the trademark "I'm a Mexican and Mexicans are nothing but good and can do no wrong" bias....you know...racist....something these people continually prove they are....

I'm sure there was an equivalent dollar number assigned to what would happen in the 1800s if we abolished slavery.

Exactly....got news for you...you people are replaceable....get over yourselves....your egotism and narcissism is unbelievable....

I posted this over on the article.

This is seriously the dumbest study I've ever read. At $222,000 per person, if we multiplied that amount by our population of 300 million, we'd have an economy the size of $67 trillion. Amazingly though, our GDP is only $14 trillion or nearly 80% smaller than listed for an illegal on a per person basis (around $46k per person). If this author and the group that conducted the study honestly believe that for the most part uneducated illegal alien is 5x more valuable to our economy than the average US citizen I would like some of the drugs you are on. More likely they are at best half as productive as the average US Citizen or around $23k per year at BEST. When you figure all of the various costs to society they require AND remittance back home the US is getting crushed by illegals. Do any newspapers do any research or basic math anymore before they do any reports or is just all propaganda?

"each illegal immigrant in Texas is generating $183,333 in expenditures"

LOL. Leftists can't even bother to strive for plausibility most of the time when they toss out their propaganda. As a lifelong citizen of the great USA I am still looking to land the kind of job which would allow me to spew out annual expenditures on that level..... but I'm pretty certain that illegals are probably averaging a lot closer to $30K per year, maybe a bit more, and nowhere near $180K.

Besides, any jobs that are held by illegals can be filled by LEGAL immigrants if we really cannot find anyone already legally here to fill them.

Yes...of course....but something these dimwits can't seem to understand...take your hand and stick it in a bucket of water....then pull it out....see how quickly the water closes over the hole left behind? Because of the number trying to come to this country legally, those here illegally and departing will not be missed.....the world is chock full of desirable resources....

Don’t forget—every illegal here in the U.S. who is taking advantage of the high quality of life earned through the hard work of generations of Americans enables his or her home country to delay economic and societal development. When we fail to regulate our borders, corrupt foreign governments and employers have far less pressure on them to improve conditions in their countries. When we turn a blind eye to illegal aliens, we condemn their countrymen to a future of misery and ensure future generations will continue to look north for opportunity.

The minute these losers step on United States soil, they are moving into the most advanced society ever built on this planet.

...and then force their loser culture on us and try to convert our way of life to mimic that of the third-world crap hole they came from...how dumb can you be?...
